So I don't know if anyone already does this or if this has ever been done on here before but I'm going to assume not.

Basically anyone on here can play, it's just a fun, good realistic stock market game for all you finance majors out there. Anyone can play its just for fun but if it catches on maybe we can set up a prize of some sort.

Start with $200,000.00. Game goes on for a year (2/15/2012 - 2/13/2013) so I'm hoping this catches on!! Goodluck to anyone who joins. There are more detailed rules on the sight.

Day trading is very difficult. There is a reason why there are only a select few people who have the abilities and will power to learn how to properly do it. I would doubt anyone on newschoolers could day trade their way to a victory even if they studied it heavily for the next few months.

I invested everything in Keystone, so that way when the pipeline is finally ok'd within the next year hopefully they'll start making shit loads. As of now it's been a terrible investment and I'm in the bottom 15%.

my brother after having no background in the market started daytrading. Looked at it all for abouut 2-3 weeks. Made 30k in 4 months. To my understanding it isnt that hard if you just pay attention. Just alot of risk so alot of people are not willing to do it.

Day trading firms have an extremely high attrition rate. The sec has special rules for day traders' accounts because nearly everyone ends up losing money. The only type of people big successful firms hire are quants from ivys. I'd also say the majority of people going into do not understand the risks of it, otherwise they would have done it. Maybe your brother has what it takes but I read the forums at hotstockmarket pretty often and sometimes elitetrader and I have never seen any of them say it "isn't that hard". That's just my 2 cents.

He was not part of a firm thought. He did this from home lol. Maybe he just took to it better than most. I am going to give it a shot with real money. Fake money isnt the same, emotions arent there like when it is your own money you lost because you went to take a piss and the stock tanked in 10 seconds. lol

dropped 70 grand on shares I sold 2 days ago. but they didn't actually sell?? And it continued to have the 15 minute hold thing. I still have them. so I lost almost half my money. I don't like this game.

Shorting ipo = win. They are getting pretty predictable. In the past year we have had linkedin, Caesars, Groupon, zipcar, and now yelp(and those are just the ones off the top of my head) show that a crash in price is due after the ipo. I am amazed after looking at Zynga's numbers their price is trending like it is. I'm surprised Yelp didn't crash even sooner or harder after looking at how their is doing now compared to previous years lol.
