So I don't know if anyone already does this or if this has ever been done on here before but I'm going to assume not.

Basically anyone on here can play, it's just a fun, good realistic stock market game for all you finance majors out there. Anyone can play its just for fun but if it catches on maybe we can set up a prize of some sort.

Start with $200,000.00. Game goes on for a year (2/15/2012 - 2/13/2013) so I'm hoping this catches on!! Goodluck to anyone who joins. There are more detailed rules on the sight.

Of course. This is for fun. If you were investing real money this would be a good way to invest in equities mainly because you probably don't have the time/skill needed to actively trade your stocks and diversify your portfolio. This is like taking the lazy/no fun way out of this game.

well you can invest immediately but it works like real life so you can put a reservation but you can't actually purchase during the time the stock exchange is open

I put around 130,000 into a stock. Watched it gain me $700 in 10 mins.. then in seconds dropped me $800. Fucking stock market.

I agree Walmart isn't good. A quick look at their net income being stagnant for the last few years says enough. Personally I think Apple and Netflix are pro just from glancing at their statement of cash flows plus apples insane profit margin. Also, screw sears and its massive jump today.

yo ill tell u how it is.  when your a little fish, you are forced to guess on what waves to ride, some good some bad but your outcome depends on what the bigboys decide

when your a big fish or a billionare, your like a boat, and you  make your own waves and can make money just by knowing the huge effects on certain stocks that ur investments will have.

hence rupert murdock, hes been alot of shitty decisions, but the amount of money he has has basicly turned him into a shark, and he can just eat other companies to make money.

the best option is limited risk shortselling. most of the startups are going nowhere, and you can cash in on their failure.

but in the current highly inflationary market we are in, a diversified portfolio will protect you against inflation somewhat.

but if u want to get rich, invest in fucking SAMSUNG. they are going to crush apple and possibly sony in the end. its scary to think what samsung would produce if they made a gaming console

It sucks that samsung is on a foreign exchange. I looked up their 10k and it looked really nice(not apple nice though imo). Don't encourage shorting to newschoolers though, besides futures, shorting can be about as risky of a thing you can do if you don't know what you're doing.

I just put all $400,000, except for $89 of course, in earnings announcements.. Distributed evenly across 4 stocks.
