How to make pow ramps less......powdery

Hey Newschoolers, tonight Syracuse received around 3-4 inches of snow yay! Anyways, I went out to build a pow ramp at my campus around 7:00 p.m., and it took me around 3 hours to finish building it. Probably could of hucked a 5 off of it but the best I could do was a 3. I felt I could do better, but since the ramp was so powdery I couldn't really get enough pop and my skis would end up taking about an inch or two off the lip every time I would hit it. So basically my question is how do you ice over the ramp without using salt
Sorry for not search barring it btw, I was just hoping to get more direct answers by detailing my specific problem.

Spray some water on it. Salt only works when the snow has a high water content and is melting. If its try it will just melt it and not make it harder.

Salt is the best way by far, but you can get away with spraying a little water on it (such as spitting it out in a nice mist over the jump) if it is cold enough outside to melt, compact, then refreeze the snow.

How much water, how long should I wait after I put water on it, and should I continue packing snow on top of the snow I put water on?

I know salt is the best way if it is above freezing; however, when I was making the ramp it wasn't so I didn't feel like getting some :(

take a sip of water and spit on it, no homo. it works. I don't even know if salt would work anyway....that works for hardening slushy lips but if the snow isn't dense enough it might not have that big of an impact.

You can also use a spray bottle instead of spitting, it's much easier. just soak your lip/jump down and then groom it out with a shovel and let it harden up a bit, repeat if necessary, it works wonders

It's less about what you put on it, and more about how long you let it set up. Build it, then let it sit overnight. Try it the next day, and it'll be really solid.

Just dont hit it straight after you shaped it! Let the jump set over night, if it is below freezing like you say, then it will compact over night. Good luck

me and my friends just put a ton of snow and hot water in a wheelbarrow and mixed together and packed it down. it worked like fucking magic.

Get like a bottle or jugg of water, drink alittle but like don't swallow like fill your mouth then like blow it out but make sure you clench your lips together and like mist it do it till its goood!
