Audio recording

take it you are shooting a wedding?

Some one told me about a zoom h4n but its a completely new field to me. i usually just use my rode mic for interviews and such. thanks for the input.

Read that.  I just researched this for like a good week.  Tons of time reading about audio and dslrs.  The cheapest way to get good audio with 2 wireless mics would be a portable recorder like a Tascam dr-40 or the Zoom H4n.  I chose the Tascam because it's $100 dollars better, has better pre-amps (not really a huge deal), and has locking XLR ports.  The recorder can be mounted on your hot shoe on the top of your camera.  Both recorders can record on 4 channels.  You can record off your recorder a stereo track, and two wireless mics.  So a stereo track and two mono tracks from the wireless mics.  You can run a mix of your tracks into your camera but with 4 tracks going your gonna want to sync in post.  Use a clap or snap to help or get Pluraleyes which does it for you.  If you get a recorder make sure you get a windscreen too.  Hope that helps some.

Also instead of a Zoom recorder research Magic Lantern firmware (if you have an SLR) you can acheive really good audio with a field mixer and save yourself the time of syncing up all the audio later

from 60d down to even just a t2i i believe and also the 5d. not so much the 7d tho
