I'be been wanting to check out the born to drops for so long, they seem like a stiff charger. honestly the two skis are super far apart from each other.
me personally, i wouldn't want a completely symmetrical pow ski because well, i hardly ever ski pow switch.
you should check out this guys review of the born to drop
THIS REVIEW IS BY CAMLAX NOT ME, taken from tgr.
"Coreupt Born to Drop Review
*Disclaimer: This season I am working for Coreupt as a sales rep, but I am being totally honest with this review. If there is a problem with the ski I’ll say it.
Lots of interest online in these skis but not many reviews. I figured I’d write this up real quick and if anybody has questions, just send me an email.
Conditions: Solitude the last couple days, about a week after the last major storm. Silver fork, Wolverine cirque, Highway to Heaven
To put it shortly, this ski is not your typical jibby fat rockered ski. This ski charges! The best way I can explain it is that most rockered skis don’t have a lower speed limit but definitely a high limit in the crud. This ski is the total opposite, It is not great at low speed but at speed, it can mow anything down with total confidence.
Here are the specs on the ski:
187cm
139 - 125 - 136
4,58 Kg
28 m turn radius
This ski can absolutely stomp landings. I attribute this to its stiffer flex and lack of major tail rocker. Any Solitude/Utah guys can attest to the landings and conditions of Fantasy Ridge lately and this ski has eaten it all up with no issue.
On groomers this ski can hold and edge and go. It has a significant amount of camber underfoot. If you find yourself in bumps, just stay centered and take them a few at a time.
Out into silver fork, this ski can lay down some serious lines. Snow was nothing amazing but still fast and fun.
The bad: The recommended mounting point is a bit too far forward. Be true to what this ski is as a charger and mount about 2cm back.
This is definitely not one ski quiver. If you want a stiff fat rockered board for your quiver for those days you want to absolutely haul ass, this is the ski for you. Also, for bigger guys that can’t find a pow ski stiff enough, check these out for sure.
I’ll have rocker/camber pics up later tonight.
If any SLC mags want to give these a test, send me an email at cmackenzie @ coreupt.com and we’ll set something up."
