I started a few years ago, but kept losing almost all my fish because I couldn't figure out how to set the hook.
I tried it again in WY this summer, but kept getting really frustrated and casting spinners instead.
Yeah, it can be a bear to learn, but it is super fun once you learn how to. I like it better than spinners because there's something about tying your own fly and catching a nice fish with your own lure, especially watching the fish go up and take the fly
I've been doing it so much this summer that just the sound of setting the hook turns me on. The fat line flying up off the surface makes such a beautiful rushing zip noise I can't even describe it.
Anywho, any of you guys ever surf fish in the ocean?? In a week and a half I'm gonna be casting into the waves of Delaware after striped bass. Anyone got any experience with this or any saltwater flyfishing???
