Sport chek vs ski shop mounting

why is sport chek only charging 20$ to mount bindings and my local stores charge 30-50$?.. Problem is i probably need to go to one of the stores anyways to get my full tilts molded, so should i just pay the extra 10-20$ for the stores to mount my bindings when i get my liners molded?

sport check is a chain = generally lower prices and service

ski shop = slightly higher cost and service.

Go get mounted by a professional shop as opposed to sport chek. I'd personally go to a shop and get my skis mounted by someone who specialises in it. As opposed to a chain store that city gapers go to.

a guy i was talking to on the chairlift said that they only mount at factory recommend spot

Personally I would never let sportchek mount my skis, I'm getting a pair of domains with squires from them this weekend and taking them to a ski shop to get mounted. I'm paying an extra 50$ but it's worth it cuz they know what they are doing

ouch an extra $50? so it's more than $50 to mount the skis? that is a kick in the nuts and so expensive.

They just sell the skis, not like there making them or anything. Pretty much the same as anywhere else

I wouldn't let the sport check 'ski techs' touch my skis. Also just pay the extra $$$ and support your local shop otherwise in the future you might have to get your skis at sport check, no worse you'll have to get you boots 'fitted' there

The ski mountains already make money off tickets. Local places don't, therefor they raise the prices.

Fuck you. My friends and I all worked there for a bit and we all have had experience in real ski shops. Skiing is our passion and we know what we are doing. Now I'm not saying that sport Chek got its reputation for no reason, but don't make a clueless generalization.

Yeh probably was a bit too much on my part. I'm sure there are some really good guys working there who do know their stuff, like yourself, just when I was over in Canada for 3 months the one place I was told not to go was there, but then again that was probably just anti-chain shop propaganda on other peoples part.

I'm not disagreeing that there are morons that work there. I have first hand experience with them. But every once in a while you will find knowledgable people there.

I had to buy new bindings and I found a pair of rossi scratch 120s at a nearby sportshop chain. Well, they fucked up and drilled a few holes too many, so i got the bindigs and the mounting for free.. glad they werent a brand new pair of skis.

So just take them to a local skishop, they know what they are doing and wont fuck up

^sounds like the guy on GT who took his new skis into a chain store in the UK, first off they mounted the skis backwards, realising their mistake they decided to rectify it by re-drilling the same holes

Except usually they won't have higher end stuff... Sport Chek is a joke for high-end sports equipment. Except maybe for the exception of hockey, since it appears as though most of my friends get their gear from there, but still...

i wouldn't trust 99% of the techs at sportchek. haha. that being said i used to be one and i never got properly taught how to do any of the service properly but i knew how to tune skis and wax and all that before but most of the techs dont really know exactly how to do it. just take them to a real ski shop where the people actually care

My bro got his skis mounted at sport check and told them exactly where he wanted them mounted, and just in case they were too dumb to mount them in the right place he actually drew on the ski with a sharpie to make sure they put the bindings in the right place... they mounted them and inch back from where they told him. answer your question?

Definetly go for the ski shop, but really sportchek isnt that bad of a store. I was in there earlier this year and they sell lots of good ski stuff. Full tilts, line skis (afterbangs, blends, etc.), salomon suspects, and they had an oakley vault with some sick gogs. Idk about how they mount, but they do have some pretty nice gear anyways.

I used to work at sportchek in sporting goods... Wouldn't recommend getting your skis mounted over there. Get it down with the local shop!

nope all you have to do is ask, but if someone is buying a park ski and doesn't say anything ill mention to them that they would probably want them mounted closer to centre or centre depending on the ski.
