Denver music scene

So I know that Denver has a pretty good music scene but I don't know much about it. Who are your favorite bands, hip hop groups, etc. out of Colorado?
A few of my friends moved to Denver to pursue their dreams, Drew and Checkers Barker, have a long family history of playing the drums and they both play in the band Places.

check out sub.mission on tuesdays at cervantes.. they just have local artists come and play.. usually dubstep and house.

saw robotic pirate monkey at the bluebird a few months ago, wasnt really anything to write home about tho. i'd say pictureplane is my favorite co dj right now
