That noise is definitely from when the dude twists his head head quickly and the Go pro shifted in the shoe. It woudn't pick up a sound from so far.

man, that was awful, not really funny to me at all. People die just like that. There's been several ski deaths here in Summit this year, the majority from accidents identical to that one.

that's why I'd be an advocate for a quick 'how to stop' lessons given free by every ski hill for those who are very new to skiing. A quick 15 minute lesson on what to do when you lose control like that can make all the difference and actually save lives. And I don't think it would be that big of a deal for a ski hill to pay one person, even just on weekends, to do that.

thats a really great idea. This guy looked like he was trying to stop using a wedge. He could of easily avoided such a large impact, or even a collision all together if he knew how to effectively stop.

notice how you can hear all the other skiers skiing down the hill. If you can hear skis on snow you can most definitely hear a 50mph collision. he was probably using the vented back door.

That video is not from Sugarbush this past weekend.

The Sugarbush incident occurred on a trail that is not directly under a lift. Additionally the lift in the area of the trail the accident happened this weekend is a high speed quad. The lift in the video is clearly a fixed grip double.

Shame to see someone go into the trees like that. He was clearly skiing at speeds that were FAR beyond his skill level. The video is a strong reminder of how out of control some people are while skiing. Not to be callous, but imagine if that was a young child instead of a tree.

Yeah it's a fatal crash, nearly on impact.  He died at the hospital.  Be careful out there, trees might have well be concrete poles.
