i agree, now i am venturing more and more away from park skiing since i have moved to Colorado, but i still enjoy it, and every good park skier knows how to actually ski. it helps when you are coming in on the tranny to a big jump and the landing as well.
i have taken one ski lesson in my life, and it wasnt a whole lesson i cried for my parents to come get me ( i wasnt even 3) but i feel that i became one of the best skiers at my local hill in pa (CBK reppin) i used to race for a different team before i skied cbk religiously but there are so many kids who dont know how to ski and dont have the care to learn and that is what erks me the most.
this kid is from PA and skis at a hill that doesnt even make a good park, there biggest jump is like 15 feet, so more then likely these kids hit rails all day, but there is so much more fun to be had exploring the mountains, even when i skied in pa i enjoyed skiing that hill every morning at 7:30 during "first tracks".
and like flashkick said many of the pros that you praise were racers, or mogul skiers. they probably werent even allowed into the park when they were kids, i remember a time when it was snowboarders only.
i could go on but i will leave it here i think you get the point.
