20 million year old antarctic lake finally reached.....
thats pretty dam sick. cant wait to see what is down there. Those scientists better drink that water. It must taste so dam fresh i can't even think about how fresh it is
I'm not huge into science, but I've been reading/watching stuff about Lake Vostok for about a year now just because it is something totally unprecedented...I'm really interested to hear what they find.
twice as clean as double distilled water dun blown my mind. I'm not really sure that I understand the gravity of this though, what will be so earth shattering about them potentially finding life?
hopefully they can get some data from the lake before winter takes hold. if they can find arsenic eating bacteria, i would place my bets on there being organisms down there.
this whole thing is basically like drilling on the moon. it's really cool stuff.
well that has been assured more or less. the ice cores alone during the drilling process is invaluable data that assists us with forming knowledge about what the earths climate was like when glaciers on antarctica were in their infancy. we're talking more than a million years.
