Making my own first ski!

Hey guys this summer I am going to give it a go at building a pair of skis! Is there any materials you would Reccomend that would help out? Like suggestions on materials in the ski would be great and also how would I make a graphic to put on the topsheet thanks a lot guys! And by the way ski builders site isn't working for me!

Im halfway done with mine in my production technology class in school, with some friends. Mold and everything. Not to be a downer, but its alot more complicated than you would expect if you want to end up with something that is even slightly rideable. Good luck and have fun though

No I know it's going to be challenging and such it's just going to be a fun summer project! thanks for the site too! Umm any suggestion on the press I would need to build like specifications and materials? So far my ski is going to have a bamboo core I think.

use wood for the ski, metal for the edges. good luck bro!

skibuilders.com will be your best friend. Without them, you'll have a hard time getting a topsheet, base, or edges, not to mention any sort of sidewall material.

Take all your cost estimates and double them. Same with how long you think it will take.

Tons of work. Tons and tons. But if you pull it off, bravo. It's the most rewarding feeling in the world.

I started to build a pair a few years ago but had to abandon ship, it's a lot harder than you'd think. Biggest problem for me was getting a press - I'd recommend going into different factories etc and asking to use their press. Good luck!
