Syria has to be one of the most god-awful, hell-holes in existence. Thoughts? Also do you guys know of any ways to help support those suffering in Syria. P.S. If you guys haven't seen the video of the man with his jaw blown off don't not watch it. It will only envelope you in rage. P.S.S. Try not to turn this into a complete shit-storm.
So what exactly is getting your panties so much in a bunch about the situation? What do you know about Syria to call the place a hellhole?
The whole thing now is like a pressure cooker fastened shut with a broken handle, the Arab Union's investigators being there was complete horseshit and there are people still living their daily lives in peace all around the country, but soon things will blow up for real and there may be change. We don't know yet.
Yep syria is a pretty big shithole, but if theres any silverlining its that usually when there are mass protests against an indigenous regime, framed primarily by civil rights and/or demanding services, the people are developed enough to know what they are missing. My point is, there are probably worse places than syria such as africa.
Want to help? Raise, train, and fund a military large enough to give you enough clout as an international actor with a large enough power index to compel the UN security council to permit the use of force (which incidentally, if u had the military powerful enough to compel the UN to action, u also have a military so powerful visavis the rest of the world, your military would take up the bulk of the action). Or become the president of the united states.
HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A FUCKING HORROR MOVIE.
BTW I kid in my class is from Syria and said that his family just got out of there because of how bad its getting. Apparently a couple guys went into a school and just started shooting kids. Straight fucked.
So I decided to venture into the underworld of the interwebz (4chan) and here lies a video of kids maimed by what I assume is explosives. Upon further investigation I found that their fucking government did this.
my whole family being Syrian, i am deeply saddened by the situation. my great grandfather was actually in the first government of syria and my grandfather was in the government too until the asad regime moved into power. my grandfather was actually imprisoned by this same regime and the things they did to him were so awful he told no one, not even his son (my dad) until last year exactly what happened. my dad was born in syria to and also imprisoned for a short time by the syrian secret service. i would not want to see anything more than the fall of asad. i can't stand coming home each night and watching my dad almost in tears watching videos of his family and friends getting shot and bombed by there own government. i would do everything in my power to help but frankly there is nothing anyone can really do.
most syrians are actually happy there is no military intervention from the west. they've seen what has happened in other countries and still believe in non-violent stuggle
Whats going on in Syria is completely unacceptable by any standards. But from an intervention stand point I don't think you can't draw an even comparison between Libya and Syria. Witout commenting on its future, Libya before was isolated and a vast number of its people felt truly opposed to Gadaffi. In Syria, though a huge number of people are rebelling, I'd say a fair number still truly support Assad as sick and terrible as that is. The Syrian civil conflict is drawn on sectarian lines too because Allawi Muslims and many Shia rally around Assad whereas the rebellion is very Sunni. To take the thing into open conflict would have massive regional consequences greater than the Libyan conflict which was by comparison pretty isolated in the desert. Not that im downplaying either shitty, shitty situation. But diplomatically and politically this one sucks to try and figure out.
Yeah it's pretty impressive. They take the quote give me liberty or death to heart. How long their gonna be able to hold this up. Just yesterday 200 people died in 1 town. It's getting out of hand
Well the sad thig is russia wants Asad to stay in power. The Russians have million dollar arms deals with the current Syrian government, so even if they say hey want to mediate peace talks they really just want to end the opposition and keep there Syrian friend in power.
