Replying to Skiing mentality

So I'm from michigan, so our hills are shutty, I know. Normally when I go up to northern michigan to ski, I go to a private club called otsego that's pretty legit, Olympic teams come there to practice. I'm not that great at park, and normally there I get caught up in this I'm-better-than-you/your-better-than-me mentality. Because so many people are better than me, I concentrate too much on not looking stupid instead of having fun and doing whatever the fuck I want, which is what skiing is all about. It makes me almost shy to try new things or be in the park because I'm bad. What I'm wondering is if Im alone on this, can anyone else relate? Discuss.
