Replying to Mounting a phone on a bike with a GoPro handlebar mount?

I am trying to mount my iPhone with a GoPro Handle bar mount and one of the sticky mounts.

I have an old case that I stuck the sticky flat mount onto the back. Got the mount on the bike, went to attach and the piece doesnt line up with the holes so I cant get the screw in. Tried to put on the "adapter" more or less the extender piece and that fit fine but now the screw isnt long enough and doesn't fully screw in.

Any ideas?
