Chairlift argument: Who did the first double?

Riding Catskinner chair yesterday and watching some bc freestyle team kids doing doubles in the black park my buddy and I we`re talking to who did the first freestyle double.

I say Mike Wilson. Teddy Bear Crisis he does a crazy double on a jump over a half pipe.

Mike Wilson did the first hucked double flippy trick, but I'm pretty sure Jacob Wester did the first double cork as we know them today.

In fact, other people have been throwing double flippy tricks in the 70s-80s, but Mike Wilson is the first from the newschool era,

Isn't andreas and jon? Andreas worked on first dub cork and jon on dub flats. After Mike Wilson obviously.

I though it was Jacob and Jon that started the doubles, Jacob with the corks and Jon with the flats.  I watched and interview and Jacob was talking about his "signature" trick being a double cork 12, sounded to me like he was the only one with it at the time.  I may be wrong though; I'll look for the interview.

It's not a interview but it's from Jacob's blog, seems to me as though he's saying Mike Wilson started it then Jon and Jacob made it big.

Pretty sure that's (one of) the first dub 12s ever at 1:45 by jacob wester. This was a full year before the "dj flip" .

Haha, I didn't remember Olenick was actually in JOI/JOSS.



To my knowledge, these seem correct.

Schrab Bros. threw the first double mistys (like Casual said).

Wilson threw the first dub flips in comp and quarterpipe (Venus fly trap?) and also threw one of the first double corks in Teddybear Crisis over the halfpipe.

Wester was probably the first to do double cork 12 mute and land it on camera at least.

doubles have been done since the 70's. first "newschool" doubles were done by toben sutherland (venus flytrap), Rick Wroblewski(risky flip) and the Shcrab brothers (double mistys). The first double cork was probably Mike wilson with his wilson flip which is essentially a double cork 10. Jon olsson brought doubles to the mainstream with his double flatspin 9 or "kangaroo flip". The next year, Jon and quite a few other pros began to do double corks and now we are in the era of the triple.

^ You're thinking of Tobin Sutherland. But that's irrelevant, Rick Wroblewski was doing d-spin-to-backflip on kickers before that.

tobin sutherland did a flare-front flip in a quarterpipe in 13 which i think was shot in 99. people have been doing straight doubles since probably the 60s tho.

im pretty sure Travis Rice was the first with dubs in snowboard and then skiers started to copy that....

but yeah in sking mike, jon and jacob where pioneers in "todays" dub corks

I remember that. He said he had gotten the idea for the trick by playing Amped II. I'm pretty sure he was taking them to the deck, but it was 8 years ago that this happened... Just watching that event was awesome.
