God fucking damnit! Nowhere does it say in the bible that you must not have sex before you marry. It simply says that you shouldnt commit adultry. Adultry by definition is having sexual relations outside of marriage, yet if you are not married then adultry cannot take place.
Where did this go wrong? Saying that without marriage first, pre-marital sex is like you are cheating on your future husband is an interpretation of 'thou shall not commit adultery'.
I'm involved in a situation with a very good looking blonde chik, who is really religious.(but you should see this girls rack). I dunno whether i should go for her, or not. If i dont, i may hurt her feelings and if i finally do get her in bed then its all good. On the flip side, i pbly wont get her in bed, and i enjoy sex very much.

well this is interesting. You're trying to hook up with a good Christian girl (who you obviously aren't yoked evenly with) and are trying to tell her what the bible says about pre-martial sex. We're designed to have sex (and it seems you've figured that one out, congrats on passing the 5th grade) but the catch is it's meant for only one person, your future spouse. I guess this kind of stuff doesn't surprise me when you say it. I have a friend who's exactly the same way, except he's smarter. All that guy goes for in a girl is an easy lay. So he just goes for the girls that'll put out the first night, I say you do the same in order to save you the time... ^You've really got a holier-than-thou attitude going on at the moment. Just because she's Christian and he isn't doesn't somehow mean that he doesn't 'deserve' her or that she's better than he is. To be perfectly honest, I've yet to see anything from you that would lead me to think that you should make such judgments.

^In other words, dissasociate yourself from all of those who aren't of your faith? Seems just a tad extreme, to me... what exactly are you doing on this website? Or perhaps I'm overestimating what 'yoked together' is supposed to mean. If it means relationship-wise, then I'm struck by the almost Aryan character of the notion. With regard to religion, my personal policy is, believe what you will, let others do likewise, and try not to criticise them out of hand (without some persuasive reason), because it's very difficult to argue that your faith is any better, excepting that it is so for you.

when you get married you are going out into the rest of your LIFE together, you are then yoked together. I'm not going out facing the rest of my life with my friends or people on this site. The bible and the teaching of scripture is spiritually discerned. If you aren't a christian you will only be able to make partial sense of it. Sorry but it's the truth.

Go ahead and call me brainwashed though, I love it when people do that just because they can’t comprehend something. Something is simple as seeing into a world we all live in but can’t see. Everyday you have the choice to acknowledge God in your life, or you can turn your back. You won’t be able to say you never had the chance to experience all He desires for you.

Good for her, yes, for believing in whatever seems right to her. Good for you for doing likewise. But I'm forced to draw the line when it is implied that anyone calling themselves a Christian cannot associate with the allegedly inferior non-Christians. It's exceedingly restrictive, it assumes a distinction of quality where there is none, and, in essence, it's groundlessly elitist. I won't claim that my faith is necessarily better than anyone else's (unless it involves, say, sacrificing babies, whereby it should be subject to a moral inquiry). It makes no sense. Believing yourself to be better than someone for arbitrary reasons does not make you better; in fact, it amounts to little more than a character flaw.

good job JD at loosing the point once again. As Christians we have a relationship with God and it is to be the focal point of our lives. Do you have any idea how hard and trying it would be to be married to someone who doesn't have that. They would constantly be seeking your attention when it is meant to be focused on God. You try to make it sound shallow but in the long run it is only an attempt at a justification for a lacking of a greater relationship with the Creator of everything.

In that case, it would be very unlikely that you would want to marry that person, wouldn't it? You know, if they were entirely unsuited to the way you live your life, to the point where it is no longer worth being with them? If the main focal point of your life is being obscured, then I can hardly fault you for not wanting to be joined for life with that which obscures it... the point is, simply, that THAT should be the reason not to marry them, not 'The unbeliever is base, inferior, and unworthy of association with members of our religion'. Although personally, I wouldn't marry anyone unless they were the focal point of my life... but that's another discussion entirely.

^That and similar lines within the quote, to me, strike of an arbitrary personal value judgment, denigrating those of non-Christian faith, and could be interpreted as the basis for the central claim that Christians should not associate with them. side note: there is clinical research that shows Christian women have a better 'Experience' during sex then their secular counterparts. Feeling greater stimulation, pleasure, and satisfaction.

From the University of Chicago, I believe it was in the early 1990's.

I fid that hard to believe. Generally first sexual experiences are kinda awkward. Regardless, what are they comparing their sexual experience to if they were chaste until marriage? My point wwas that thankfully we're all free to behave in whatever manner we wish so long as we don't cause anybody harm.

Agingeri, here is the truth about Christianity verses Judaism. In the Jewish faith there is a stringent code that they should abide in for their salvation, in order to be worth of the gift of eternal life with God.

In Christianity there are very few rules we must follow. Mainly four:
1) God loves you unconditionally
2) You sin and fall short of God and what he desires for you
3) Jesus Christ died to take our sin upon himself and raised from the dead so that we can know God
4) We must personally accept what Jesus has done for us and enter into a personal relationship with Christ.

That’s it. There are rules things that we should do, and by doing them will strengthen our relationship with Christ (for example, waiting until marriage to have sex, avoiding slander, cheating, stealing, loose language…) but they aren’t some list of mandatory behaviors. Though what Christian wouldn’t want to be in a closer and more intimate relationship with the living God? I know I want to be.

Another aspect of the Old Testament was that many of the rules therein were established to set apart the Jews as God’s chosen people. There was logic behind most of it at the time, in their culture and I don’t know most of it. One example would be that it says girls can’t braided their hair, that was because the prostitutes of the time wore their hair that way and it was their distinguishing factor (much like now days skanky boots, short skirts, and skimpy tops are)

In my opinion if someone wishes to remain chaste until marriage more power to them. Give them respect. In todays age it is very hard to go against the grain especially with the whole sex thing.

On another note from talk above:

alright so Jesus said to love your neighbor. Now doesnt that mean you shouldnt put down those different from yourself those that hold different beliefs. Mary magdelen was a whoreand jesus befriended her, saved her life. No christian is worthy to pass judgement. That is left to god alone (a paraphrase of another quote in the bible)

Since i just spent a while looking for those verses in my Bible, my guess is that if your girlfriend is a Christian, she is trying to abide by those rules and remain pure before God. You should respect her and her descisions.

personally, J.D. May is my fucking hero and although I respect Prins's view on religion and all that, i find it sorta of unnerving how fanatical people can be. Never fear my friend she can be swayed. My ex girlfriend was a very strong christian and has been all here life. After we dated about 3 or 4 months she started giving me hjs and she initiated it, I didn't think I had a chance at that for a lot longer. Them after like 7 or 8 months we started having sex. Had it all the time for like 2 years. So it can be done.

it's interesting that because I take a stand and boldly proclaim what the bible says I am somehow labeled a fanatic. I could be a very strong post modern fanatic and say that anything for anybody works... but then I wouldn't be contributing to the point of this discussion now would I? Because I don't defend one side of the argument doesn't mean I don't understand it.

Could my understanding of the others opinion help me formulate my responses?

The fact of the matter is that she believes in something that you don't. If you were truly someone who was open to ideas you would continue to allow her to believe what she would like to and even encourage her in that. After all if anything is right shouldn't you encourage everyone in the anything they desire?

Just because you may not agree with Christianity, or know people who simply claim to be Christian who slept with you, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect what Jesus teaches.

I like the fact that i'm a 'sick dick' because i also stick up for what i believe in, the same that she does.
And no, i havent told her you ignoramus. And yes, i'm still going for her. Its simply put, frustrating that i finally found somebody that i would want to spend the rest of my life with, when i really want to live up university life to the fullest.
So i would like to thank people like Prins for so judgemental, and hypocritical at the same time. Not only was it judgement, its the fact that you did not even know the full story, which is IGNORANT.
I honestly dont remember reading the part in the bible where it says you cant have pre-marital sex. If you could quote it, then it would be nice. If somebody allready has, i apologize for not reading it, as i am trying to defend myself against a purely personal and unprovoked attack.

capurnicus, unlike some people on this site, there are a few open minds. Allthough i like what you are trying to do in neutrality to my position, unlike the rest of this website who seems to take this way to personally for something that is not happening to them. So bravo all you self-righteous people.

I think before i said she had a great rack and ass, i did say she was smart. And contrary to popular belief it seems, i have some intelligence as well, but because some people dont agree, i'm automatically inferior to all of you.
