Crack in Macbook Screen

I've got a macbook air that I bought in the summer time, very seldom leaves my bedroom and when i take it places i keep it in a big poofy case because I'm paranoid about breaking it. Haven't banged it, dropped it or anything and just out of nowhere a small crack has appeared in the screen. (Not the actual glass but within the screen, colours are shooting out different directions.) It's about 4 or 5 cm big and growing I think.
I'm gonna take it into the apple store as soon as i can, but was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this kind of stuff or knew what Apple can do about this? I'm kind of really pissed off, as you can imagine. Thanks

So you cracked your LCD? From what I hear that's around a $900 fix, well that's the case for MacBook Pros...

Take it into your apple store...

I would take it to the Apple store and see what they can do. One day randomly the LCD screen on my moms iPad began to bleed everywhere (whole screen was red/blue/rainbowy) and they replaced it on site, no charge what so ever.

This happened to my iMac a week after i got it. Since it was so early they gave me a new LCD for free
($1000 VALUE!)

If you explain to them and be VERY honest, i bet they would at least discount it. They take really good care of people

Holy fuck! $800?

First question - Did you do it through the Apple Store?

Second question - Why the fuck would you do it through the Apple Store? Replacement screens are only a couple hundred bucks and easy to install.

except the difference is,

you get a new PC because you HAVE to because the one you own has shit the bed after say 2 years.

a mac owner gets new one because they want to or want to upgrade. and can usually sell their current model for good change.
