thinking about going and signing up for some

has anyone done this and have any advice on what to say to get approved since.... im in college idk if they will think i could use em. thanks NS

WOW. Some of you people are SO ignornant its ridiculous. The sad part is that most of you saying "I'm not paying for you to get food stamps, get your own job" Well guess what? Most of you still live at home you whiney fuckers so shut the fuck up.


Listen man, if you are still having a tough time working a job as well as going to school, then theres no shame in it and no harm in trying.

1: How does working three jobs mean he's making "at least $21 an hour"? Do you think he works all three at the same time?

2: You think being a TA is a 5 hour a week job? HAHAHAHAHA, you're a fucking idiot. TA's don't even necessarily get paid, for many it's just a graduation requirement.

when you have to live on your own dime then you can come back and give your opinion.

oh, and by the way, I pay my own bills, have a $2 a day food budget, and don't abuse welfare like I probably could because I wouldn't feel right using others hard earned money.

I was a little confused by your animosity toward me in your post, but then I realized you're just butthurt because your job obviously sucks dick and you're poor as shit. I don't pay my own bills, I don't pay my own rent, I spend $200 a week on groceries, and every dollar I earn from my job can be spent on whatever my little, cold, black heart desires.

i lived with a black kid from the ghetto in portland who was on a full ride because of his familys financial situation, and he used food stamps every month or so for a bulk food run.

he also used $5000 of his scholarship money to buy his GF new tits.


but the food they give you is pretty shitty, but it will get the job done.


in any case, most food shelters(as long as they have food in stock) will give you food regardless as long as you look like you need it. People who come off as well to do, have fallen on rough times the past few years, so they are used to anybody showing up looking for food to feed their family.

I have thought about it numerous times. I am a work study student in Montana so I automatically qualify for it but I have decided (so far anyway) that if I can afford to ski on the weekends and buy beer I should probably leave it for people that really need it. I have a few friends that are receive food stamps though, seems pretty handy to have.

took you until your senior year of college to 'socially blossom', 6 years of higher education later and you're pumped about getting an internship level job, living off of and bragging about your dad's income when you're at the age where surpassing him should be the priority. just from this thread

holy jeez. I'm baffled by the number of people that think AR6 messed up his math, or thought that you were really working 3 full time jobs.

He did his math like that because no one cares if you're working 3 jobs, or 150 jobs, or 1 job, if the total hours aren't more than a single full time job.

So basically, you shouldn't have mentioned 3 jobs, unless they were all fulltime, because there's nothing more difficult about working 3 jobs @ 10 hours/week, than working one at 30 hours/week, so stating "3 jobs" is irrelevant and just a way to make your life sound harder.

If your 3 jobs do total more than 1 full time job, but less than 3 full time jobs, you should just state the hours/week you work ie: I work 60 hours/week. 

"work 3 jobs" means nothing-- you could work 3 jobs and work no more than 3 hours/week.

I know this post seems like an over-explanation but there were multiple people who didn't understand in this thread.  I found it frustrating...moving on...

fuck food stamps just get unemployment. Thought I'd never do it, but I'm a student and the business i worked at went under so i said fuck it. depending on your location and how much you made and worked you'll get pretty good money. Thought I'd get another job, but I think i'll have something lined up for the summer so I'm goin for it haha.

As to the morality of it, as far as I can tell, I'm not seeing much of anything out of the taxes taken from my paychecks (they even took a % from my tips!) so I feel like I should actually see something. I'm not gonna go into where that money actually goes, but I've little hope in the longevity of the social security system, I get no health benefits, I see nothing done to improve the local infrastucture, and to be honest, most of the federal programs I approve of have been slashed or reduced, not to mention I think our foreign relations/military expenditures are so ridiculously exorbitant it's unbelieveable. Also, on a side note, the fact that most of those wall street guys that totally fucked everything aren't in jail, but are still working and, in some cases, are actually working in the government as economic/financial advisors makes me even more pissed off.

So yeah, unemployment is sweet; no regrets, and I have that much extra time to focus on studies and other hobbies and skiing of course. Note that unemployment programs actually reward you for being a student, mine at least.
