Wooo Free Health Care In Canada

Which apparently means a bunch of old stupid fucking doctors who's only priority is to see how fast they can get you to leave. I wish I could pay for my health care because then physicians and surgeons might be inclined to give a fuck. I'm not ok with waiting 3 months for an appointment to be told that IM wrong about my situation and that his 15 second observation was enough to know that, so get out.

you do know that there is nothing holding you back from going to the states and hiring a private practitioner right?

some of the really rich ass people I know who dont feel like waiting and want better service pay retarded amounts of money to have their surgeries in the states.

its not that doctors dont give a fuck, its that they see hundreds of thousands of pussies that think they are dieing when really they just have diarhea.
that must get a little frustrating no?

semi privatized health care is the way to go though.

you can pay for your healthcare in canada. you just let me know when you can afford it.

i'd rather walk in to get an xray and walk out without paying for it like i did two weeks ago.

all of this free healthcare stuff is potentially gonna be gone soon thanks to harper. then we'll see how everyone feels when they pay 150$ to see a doc at a walk in.

took my brother 5-6 years for the doctors to finally do an mri on his back to find he has a herniated disc...  So I can totally understand this statement..  I went to a doctor a couple weeks ago and he told me to google what he thought I had...  its sad when you can get more information on the internet than from your doctor about something.

Totally. Universal health care, with the option of going to the private side if you really want to, or just can't wait. At least here, you are often examined and graded depending on your injury, if you blow your knee and it's absolutely critical to get it fixed you'll be under the knife the next day, if not, you'll wait in line depending on the severity of your case and needs.

My dad had fucked up his hip early on in his life and it came back with a vengeance 10 years ago. He had the option of waiting 1-3 months in line, getting strong pain medication for -99% of the normal price, or go to a private clinic, get under the knife within a week and even with insurance... pay roughly 15,000 euros + all the costs involved in being in the hospital in recovery, which can be over €300/day.

He opted to wait, obviously as that kind of cash isn't just laying around, got a reserve surgery spot three weeks later and paid a whopping 120 euros for the whole shabang, including the hospital days.

Ok I understand that when it comes to serious emergencies Free Health Care is great and it must be frustrating having a bunch of pussies come in complaining about shit but think about how frustrating it is for those who actually have something wrong and are told they're fine. A friend of mine went in to the doctor and she was told her stomach problem was all in her head while she was puking and having nose bleeds twice a day then figures out she has a serious condition. So if 150$ means im Actually going to be treated then Ill pay cause instead im just wasting my time.

i hate to break it to you though but that same sort of mentallity can apply anywhere.

this morning i ordered a large double double and the dummy forgot to put sugar in it. i was pissed, it wasnt what i asked for.

last week, my car broke down and the mechanic charge me a fortune to replace numourous things. this week, it seems like my car is having the exact same problems.

humans are faulty, even doctors. they, like you, are not going to be right 100% of the time.

Yeah it's true, I was sick a lot last year and only dealt with bs. Huge lines and rushed nurses and doctors. One time I was in the hospital overnight I spent the first 6 hours in a makeshift hallway room which was just a laminated number taped to the wall. On top of this the reason I was sick in the first place was a mistake by a terrible walk-in clinic doctor that is somehow approved to practice medicine. Ide be much better off with the US system where we have more tax money and can choose he best doctor and pay for the best treatment. Although obviously this system benefits some less well off people, it's still frustrating!

Ok well first off I believe one's health should be taken more seriously than a coffee or a car. And its not a matter of making a mistake its a matter of not even trying.

youre not really complaining about doctors. youre complaining about the facility.
lack of staff and lack of updated facilities is a federal issue. people dont want to pay more tax, but they want the rolls-royce of hospitols?

it SEEMS like you would be much better off in the states, until something serious happens. Breaking an arm is a long way from, jeez i dunno, having cancer, leukemia, strokes, heart complications etc etc etc etc. lets see you afford that in the states. better hope you have benefits. oh, youre not employed? tuff fuckin go. oh, youre under 18 years old, better hope your folks have insurance? oh, they dont? better hope they have deep fuckin pockets. oh, they dont? tuff fuckin go.

free health care does not benefit the less well off, it benefits everyone.

complaining about a free service = utterly and truly a first world problem at its finest.

I guess maybe I don't know as much about it as I need to before making this claim, You're right,. It was just so frustrating sitting in that disgusting hallway for all that time. Im not sure exactly whether [my dad] would have ended up paying more or less from tax:hospital bills, but its only because of his insurance that I got a semi-private room over the following 2 nights I was there

Do you even realize how expensive treatments and procedure's in the USA are? To have blood work done (this example was from 2008 when I was in lake Tahoe) its roughly $500. I admit that you get the results blisteringly quickly, however, compared to paying taxes in Canada and waiting a week for the results of the blood test, paying $500 is not my ideal situation.

People always bitch and moan about the system not being effective, but in reality its because the system is overworked. In Canada, you can come from any background and still go see the best doctor in the field (you might have to wait 6 months, but get over it), where as in the USA you can only go see that doctor if you have the cash flow to support it. If "free" healthcare means I pay more taxes than an American, and part of that money goes to other people's medical costs, I don't care. In reality our system provides better accessibility for the common person to the best medical professionals.

and yes, we pay more in taxes than americans. however that increase in government income does not solely go to healthcare. we also dont have highway tolls....
