Can I use fks 180's

ya ya I know, if you have to ask....

But I'm just tired of breaking bindings. I had a pair of fkx 140 race bindings that plopped out on me and I think I'd really prefer some all metal ones. I rode the fkx at 11 din setting. Does it put extra stress on the binding riding it at the bottom of the din range? I'll probably ride the 180's on 9 or 10. So should I get them or would I be much better off with a pair of fks 140's?

Go for them. There will be no stress with the din at the bottom.

Also check out the Salomon STH 16 (or steel) if you want an all metal binding without the super high din.

I personally rock a Look PX18 Racing. All metal and absolutely love them.

I have/had the same question. So I pretty much just broke my fks 140s heel piece to shit and was wondering if i could get the 180s. What I'm concerned about was my din settings are only on about 9.5/10. So, could I do it?

Wtf did you do to break it? Heel piece is the same for both bindings. If you are breaking turn table heels, you will want a STH Steel/916/PX18 binding.

STH 16 is such a good choice, they'll hold up for sure, and their DIN starts at 9 if you think 10 isn't low enough. You can't go wrong with them

You would be fine I would say, 11 is pretty ideal. If you needed to set the binding higher than that very few people could legitely ride them haha.

it actually is fine to ride at either the minimum or maximum of the din setting. the notion that there will be too much pressure on the spring if you ride at max is pretty much false

you just don't want to do it for long, if you were to loosen your din every day after riding, then it would be fine, but most people don't want to do that

my look pivot 18's start at 8 and i ride them at 11, do the fks 180s start higher? if so i would recomend the looks since you wont be right at the bottom of the din chart, i go by the two away rule: you should be two away from the bottom and two away from the top.

i don't remember an answer last time i asked,
but a rossi rep told me you can order new brakes through shops, contrary to lots of people saying you have to mail it in... anyone know for sure? i suppose i could just call pinewskis and ask like a champ

the shop told me fks brakes arent compatible with the fkx binding and there's nothing they can do about it.

If you're thinking of running a 9 or 10 DIN, look for a pair of FKS 155s or 14-DIN 997s.  All-metal goodness, and a reasonable DIN range.

as long as you're within the din range (which you are) they'll work great for you. the 180s have a much sturdier toe piece. they're awesome bindings, you'll be stoked

I run my 180s at 10 when I'm trying silly stuff. They release a bit nicer than my old Jesters did at the same DIN and I think they hold me in a little better too. The lateral elasticity in the toe is just crazy. If you're breaking bindings and riding at least double-digit DINs then the Fks180 is a great option.

Find a pair of FKS 155s on here or on TGR and snatch them up for ~$150. You'll have the bomber all metal construction of the 180, without the unreasonable 8-18 din, especially if you're only running a 10 or 11. Save some money and still have the legendary binding without the unneeded dun range.
