pre workouts are retaded and so bad for you. Protein or whatever after is fine if you really want to gain serious mass or strength you need to eat a lot of food.
Don't fuck with pre-workouts. they're awful for you and it got to the point where i just didn't feel healthy or like i could workout without them at all. i took Jack3d, Black Powder, Yok3d, and Assault...none of them made me feel good.
Start with a protein. I take combat by musclepharm and it's great. it has hydrolized whey protein and proteins that are slow, meduim, and fast absorbing. it feeds your muscles really well.
If you want to take a creatine, start with basic monohydrate. it's flavorless, costs $15, and you can mix it with your protein. if you want to get into more hardcore shit then look in to taking Con-Cret, and ultra-concentrated form on creatine. this will help promote size gains.
it might also be beneficial to try a branched chain amino acid supplement. i've never taken one, but they're said to increase muscular endurance and promote muscle growth.
