I am a probably intermediate/advanced skier at this point really just mountain only. I got bored of mountain and I'm really into park/freestyle skiing now and looking for a better ski with twin-tips and some pop, as well as rocker to butter and stuff. So far I have narrowed my choices down between, the most durable, good reviews, and in my price range, and im left with the k2 press, the punisher jib 2011, and the surface double time 2011. Its driving me crazy to make a decision. Here is what ive gotten so far:
***K2 Press 2012 (299$ getboards.com/untracked.com)***
Pros:
- Heard good reviews mostly a 4/5 type ski
- Can do all mountain, as well as park.
- Heard its pretty durable.
- A fun, light, buttery ski and good for entry park level.
- Great pop.
Cons:
- Heard it can be too butter especially for my size(I weigh about 195 and im 6'0)
- Heard the wood core can cause it to become kind of waterlogged.
- Not symmetric twin-tips, idk how riding switch will be.
***Scott Punisher Jib 2011 (299$ getboards.com)***
Pros:
- Heard good reviews mostly a 4/5 type ski
- Can do all mountain, as well as park.
- Tom Wallisch used this ski :)
- A fun, light, buttery, yet stiff ski and good for entry park level and more.
Cons:
- Heard its durability can be a bit shaky.
- Its last years model, don't know too much about it.
- Seems a bit thin, idk how it will ride on the mountain.
- Don't know if twin-tips are symmetric or not.
***Surface Double Time 2011 (238$- evo)***
Pros:
- Heard good reviews so far mostly a 5/5 type ski
- Can do all mountain, as well as park.
- Symmetric twin-tips
- A fun, light, buttery, yet stiff ski and good for entry park level and more.
Cons:
- Size only atm is a 170, im worried that it'l become two short.( I'm trying to get at least 2 years out of my skis).
- Haven't heard of Surface until now.
- Heard some bad things about its durability and snapping.
If anyone has any other suggestions or has any helpful info on these skis id really appreciate it. I wanna make a well-informed decision. Thanks.
