Mountains near kelowna?

copy pasted from a thread I made in regionals with no responses.

I applied to UBCO for september 2012, If I end up there, what are the options for skiing around the area.

so far I have on my list:

silver star

sundance

big white

apex

which of these are the best, and are there any others that I should look into?

Also, what is the urban like in the area? any low consequence rails or gaps in kelowna that arent guarded?

(I dont want specific rails or locations, I am just asking if there are many)

Revelstoke and Sunpeaks aren't that far either.

I've seen lots of edits with urban in Kelowna

i ski apex, small mountain, dece park, no lift lines, steep as heck, no big lines on pow days.

revelstoke is apparantly two hours from ubc, thats a pretty long drive compared to big white or silverstar,

sun peaks looks pretty nice though.

In the winter revy is between two and a half to three and a half hours depending on the roads. It would be well worth the drive on weekends. Siverstar would be my second favorite in the are, but sun peaks and big white are also fun from time to time

What's wrong with big white and Silver Star? Big white has a sick park and some huge lines for powder days

Silver Star if you want some steeper stuff mixed with a park. If you want some steep when it's deep head to Revelstoke.



You can get a dual mountain pass to Silver Star and Big White for about a lift ticket more. Best of both worlds.

get the dual mountain pass for variety. Each one of the mountains has it's own flavor. Try each to see which one you like the most, if not, just buy the dual mountain pass and call it a day.
