It's about an hour drive from Bozeman. Great skiing but Bridger is only fifteen minutes away and a lot cheaper

Its about an hour drive. Theres a bus that stops on campus every morning that will take you there and back. With a bus pass it costs about 2 bucks a ride there and back.

bridger is sooooo much better if you don't really care about park

Bridger has some really gnarly terrain (the gnarliest in the US imo, were talking shoulder width slots that you can straightline and stuff) and great BC access. It also becomes a bit of a disaster on pow days, again, IMO. Slushmans lift ends up with like an hour plus wait sometimes. And if it hasnt snowed in a while, there arent a ton of options.


Big Sky doesnt have the same BC access, and slightly less gnarly terrain, however it has cool wide open steep stuff off the tram, North Summit snowfield, and a ton of other options. Even on "crowded" days people are pretty spread out. Also Big Sky has a park. This year they have build a decent jump line as well.

Moonlight has a cheaper pass but its smaller. They have some good terrain like the headwaters, but no tram access. They also have some fun tree skiing. And finally moonlight is the emptiest resort on earth. weekedays often feel like you have it to yourself. Its also colder because its on the north side of the mountain. They have a ton of great jib features, and usually some jumps as well.

Just got off the bus on the way back from big sky. The ride is cheap (only 2 bucks round trip) but takes a long time. Any day that I ski I spend 3 hours on the bus, but it's not an altogether bad thing because you can sleep or read or do homework pretty easily. One problem that arose this year is the last bus leaving at 8am, which means that you cannot get to big sky on a weekday unless you don't have class whatsoever. I am completely satisfied in my decision with big sky over bridger though.

Yeah the bus does take a bit longer (more like an hour and a half).

However at the price of gas ill take that for it only costing 2 bucks. And its nice not having to worry about staying awake or whatever on the bus. you can just throw your headphones in and take a nap.

idk, I don't know what it is but big sky just hasn't been super impressive to me. Maybe I just need to go on when there's some more snow with someone who knows the mountain better, but its been pretty much like most other resorts I've skied.

Bridger is cheaper and closer, and I have yet to have even a mediocre day there. There's something about the feel of Bridger that I really love as well. It might just be that there aren't many groomers and it just has that somewhat raw feel to it.

I guess we could summarize the whole Bridger/Big Sky debate with personal preference. Both have their pros and cons.

Bridger is nice and really close. Big Sky is far and epic as fuck. The BC access in big sky is awesome idk what you guys are talking about? you cna always find some nice stuff over there. The bridger park actually isnt that bad, they just need to set up a jump line.

The skiing here is rad, and access is easy. Bozeman is a good place to be if you like the outdoors (especially skiing, fishing, and ice climbing).
