Making Jacket Taller?

Was given an old Oakley Jacket which has a good fit, but preferably would want it a little longer. Has anyone had any experience with this? I was thinking I could just sew some fabric around the bottom.

the fabric would have to match the jacket fabric.. maybe cut off the sleevs and use that to make a tall vest
