No disrespect but this is probably why you don't run a ski company. I'm sure this has been said before but choosing to sponsor an athlete is an investment with real fiscal consequences. The company is hoping that by sponsoring -- in this case, Andy -- that they will make more in sales due to his endorsement of their product than it will cost them to give him gear all season. I'm not trying to pander to you here (I'm sure you get the concept) but I think people are just saying that Andy throwing around the comments and personal attacks he did might not reflect the best on the companies that sponsor him. That said, I fucking love how he skis and frankly I doubt very many potential buyers will see his comments or be deterred from going through with purchasing line, etc.

Bottom line is it really doesn't matter but it never hurts to be professional if skiing is your profession. If you just do it for fun, you can be as much of an ass as you want with limited repercussion.

pardon me, *sound.  Goepper is a boss - he's put in so much work on his dubs, is crazy consistent, and appears to be a nice kid. So to further my post - fuck off. (just to add to the fucks haha)

i agree that I don't love the technical bobby brown steeze but the kid's 17 come on lay off he'll grow in to his own style still mad young. props to him for coming second in the x to tom wallisch who is like 7 years older and a comp vet

All good, I was just talking about how andy worded his posts earlier. I definitely don't disagree with him on his main points. Blunts are the best grab and goepper is the man. I mean... crushing slope at the age of 17? Holy shit

i'm gonna have to agree with you 100%, but unfortunately far too many people don't. Regardless of what these hooligans say goepper's run was fucked up, it amazed me more than everything else that night, except the snowmobile freestyle with the dude almost dying and walking away. But wallisch should have won, and he did, his run was pretty much perfectly executed.

Beautiful. You just made yourself look like a moron on a website full of people pumped on your skiing (myself included). I was simply expressing my opinion - do I hate Goepper? No, he's a damn good skier as I mentioned earlier, he deserved his medal. Watching finals I just wished someone would have attempted a run relatively different than the 8 skiers in it because to me, they all looked relatively the same. As funny as the joke is, slope skiing is becoming aerials.

Pretty crazy to see a 'pro' skier burn himself in the ass so bad.

Pretty much gotta agree with both sides here, two top two deserved to be there. No doubt that shit was fire, it is pretty plain to see who is the best. Tom incorporates his own style into a straight perfect slope run. But at the same time the rest of the field just seemed to doing robo runs that were good technically, however pretty boring to watch over and over again. The judges well, no hate can go there, and you really gotta know that with 4 jumps people were going to do 4 doubles. Moral of the story; stop bitching. NS is getting to be a bit whacky, the flamefestivals are getting hard to handle

As a snowboarder I find Newschoolers to be extremely cool but with that said I have never seen a group of people hate on every aspect of their ownsport more! Nick Goepper had a sick run you cant deny that! The x games is a competitionif it doesn’t have enough style for you don’t watch it! Newschoolers has gonefrom an awesome website to a place were kids that cant ski good nit pick andbitch about every topic imaginable! Get the fuck over it! I hate the mute grab. That is my only issue. I know its more risky/difficult. But it would be dope to see a bigger variety of grabs. Not Japan either. Just something refreshing to make looking at all these dubs a bit more pleasant. haha

That laboratory is perfect north slopes! A whopping 20 runs and a terrain park that geopper used to lap 40-50 times a day/night maybe more.

If you people are so pissed off about progression and saying this is a huckfest, just take a look at all prior X-Games. The competition is as skilled as its course design and size of features.

Back in 2003, the features were puny compared to today's, and even going huge on the last booter only paved way for a sw 9.

In the first few games tricks were ugly and uncoordinated, "hucked". When the style and confidence started to come into play, switch 9s and 10s emerged all around quickly, and pretty much everyone did a sw 1080 on their last hit, causing kids to start calling this spin-to-win, huckfest.

Then Jon brought a Kangaroo into the mainstream, and that became the go-to trick, and soon... you all see where this is going.

The X-Games is about entertainment for the peons. All those who are complaining, NOTHING is stopping you from organizing your own competitions, where you can set your own set of features, your own set of rules, invite your own kind of competitors, aching for "style" only.

Go! Call up some possible sponsors, contact your local hill, set it up! If you succeed, do it again, grow it in scale, become a competitor for the "normal" comp circuit. Just do it instead of complaining about the way "your" sport is progressing. It's not yours to own, it's not yours to order, but it's fucking yours to affect if you really, really want to.

I also got a lot of respect for Andy for speaking his mind, and I also happen to agree with his opinion. Hating on Nick is a sure sign of a small penis.

On a side note, I don't understand how a switch 270 on a gap to closeout rail could possibly be "subpar".


All in all, 8 flips, 15 1/2 spins, all of it perfect and grabbed up like a G. Can't ask for more than that.

Plus, Nick even stepped up his run and did switch dub cork 12 on his third hit. I only know of one or two other skiers who can even DO that trick.

This is the problem with skiing now. Since when do the orange names have to be reserved on the internet? Andy can voice his opinion if he wants, and it's no business of the companies he represents. Just because he voiced his opinion loudly (and offensively) doesn't mean he has abolished his validity as an "industry" member. He's entitled to his opinion, and frankly, I think its cool that he took a forward approach. It's not fair to hold people like Andy in the highest regard and discount his opinion.

That being said, Andy is a strange character and doesn't normally lose his cool.... its probably a product of the downtime and withdrawal symptoms of the pain medication. Hey Andy.

Now to the thread. I think Goepper is a boss. 2 years ago he was just a regular park skier, with one double. In the time since, he's learned all four doubles (and more if you count the 12's) with extreme precision. This is his first year competing in the big time.... he'll start changing his grabs and following suit towards the "style" portion of the comps soon... After this years X Games that requires doubles on every jump, its going to shift to rails and style, and i don't see why Goepper won't easily adhere to the trend.

There are very few who do switch dub 12 the way Bobby and Goepper did it at X Games. That was a true double 12 and I only know of those 2 plus one other that do it that way.

Yeah, I've only ever seen a few guys do it. Bobby Brown, Sammy Carlson, Jon Olsson, and Elias Ambühl are the ones I can think of, but maybe you can enlighten me as to who else can successfully execute this complicated and risky aerial maneuver. Besides Nick Goepper. ;)
