This kid has been absolutely killing it, and has just came in so hot to the contest scene this season.

I just feel like there is something missing with him. Maybe its that he's too "brown" like. He learned everything from the textbook and his skiing style is the way it is just to win comps. Not hating on him (or Brown, both sick skiers), but does any one else agree with me on this one?

He's so fucking good man, he learned left dubs (unnatural) like last may (wcsish) and has been going so hard since. Kid has a big future.

I sort of get what you mean, i see Hatveit and Wallisch that always seems to be stoked and having fun with their skiing, where Bobby and Goepper are super focused in when it comes to competition. Just what I see from watching the last few competitions.

If you've ever been around the kid, you'd know that he's just as stoked on skiing as Tom or Andreas. Just because he's focused and wants to accomplish his goals doesn't at all mean that skiing is a chore or a job to him.

I think one of the main reasons that some people have that impression is because we don't really see Goepper outside of comps on TV. We all know how much style TW has because we've watched 10 million edits of him. But Goepper? He's just a young guy who started slaying comps. It'll be interesting to see what happens as time goes on.

Also, vibes to Goepper for being a Carinthia team rider.

How do you work on ditching your jock style? I agree that Tom should have won, but if Goepper's 'jock style' is holding him back how in the world do you get rid of it? I think it's a valid question.

He is the NICEST kid. He grew up skiing where I ski, and he was always a bit quiet but unbelievably nice.


That said, he is EXTREMELY talented, and has an almost unmatched bag of tricks. However, his style is far too similar to Bobby's. With some improvement, he would (and already is) be a force to be reckoned with.

I kinda get what you're saying, but I think it's just cause he's a young gun. With that much talent, I'm sure he'll be able to find something to set himself apart from the likes of the competition jocks. That being said, he's an amazing skier and so is Bobby Brown.

ahh didnt mean it like that, i have in fact talked to him, he helped land my first k fed while at windells, i guess i was saying is that he has a more competitive vibe than others, and personally i love it

Thats why he is a "competition" skier, you go to comps to win and i mean neither the least fun but thats what brown and nick get their fun out of. He skis like a textbook, upright skier because that what judges look for in comps, this is why he competes and doesn't film.

Nick is growing up in parks where doubles are the norm. I sincerely believe he will become one the smoothest and most stylish skiers soon.

Having known the kid since he was about 3 feet tall, it's pretty amazing to see him progress his way up to winning silver at the X Games. He's always been a quiet, humble kid and he absolutely deserves all the good things coming his way. That being said, yeah, he has the competition skier style, but who cares? Last I checked, the X Games was a competition, not filming for a video part. Wallisch didn't do anything to distinguish his doubles from anyone elses.

lol? i know we all have different opinion but you're probably the first one i know that prefer the "dub 12 mute" style over the "thug" style. i mean, they are always doing the same trick over and over again. sometime it's kinda nice to see where's the progression is in skiing(like triple cork from bobby) but i would rather watch people from stept and inspired instead of bobby brown hucking some sw dub misty 14 mute....

but hey, that's just my opinion.

I dont know what was up with the tremendous amount of hate on him yesterday. He is a good skier. Is he as stylish as tom? No. but he throws down pretty hard. I think he will go far in slopestyle.

If you think those guys don't love skiing just as much as Tom, Andreas, or Henrik, you're crazy. They just have a competitive side and want to win. There's nothing wrong with that. If I was good enough to get to X Games, I probably would be doing everything I could to snag that gold medal, and yeah, I'd probably be frustrated with a throwaway run. I understand that skiing is supposed to be "all about fun", but I think when it comes down to it, there is definitely a time and place to put on your game face and get competitive. Nobody should be happy with 7th place in a competition.

I met and rode with Nick one day last year at Carinthia when I saw him in inferno by himself, I realized he was good but didnt know who he was until we got on the chairlift and then we talked a bit, he's a really cool kid. Slays skiing, and even though you say tom and Andreas are just smiling, you must know that they OBVIOUSLY have a HUGE competitive side to them that they just arent showing so emotionally like Bobby Brown, etc. Or else they'd of dropped from the pressure of the comp scene way back

Nick is one of the guys who is always smiling and having fun, not in comp his tricks werent very insane but all nice and flowy and he was having a fucking blast you could tell, plus hes 17 dont give me that crap of no emotion after a run.

3 days after getting 2nd in the Breck dew tour i saw him riding his home park in indiana with like 6 rails in it in the pouring rain. kid loves to ski. cant say i'd be out skiing in the rain in indiana if i got to ski year round at awesome mountains

i agree with op.

i just think of nick goepper as "that kid who comes out to big comps and throws down", because i've never seen him in anything other than major comps.

definately a really good slope jock though, i can't even 9 both ways.

It's kinda retarded how much of NS's population hates skier who are successful. The people who win contests work very hard to get there. Don't bash them, be happy for their hard work and vision, it takes a lot of skill, appreciate it.

I respect the extreme difficulty of the runs that he puts together, I just don't find them super appealing. Bobby is doing the same thing with a little extra flair.
