Replacement kit lens ?

not worth it, go with the tamron 17-50 f2.8, should be able to get it for a good price on ebay

Just cause its focal range is similar doesnt necessarily mean the actual lenses are very similar. The tamron is much much sharper. And also try to stay away from variable apertures.

Yeah i noticed the variable aperature. alright I will just save for the tamron. I think i'd rather get an 11-16 and a 50mm first though

Those are both great lens but then you're limiting yourself to very wide, and to a highish prime...

My suggestions for kit lens replacements:

Tamron 17-50
Canon 24-70
Canon 24-105
and my personal favorite, Primes!

Touché hahaha Yeah 50 prime 11-16 tamron 17-50 and something in the 55-250 range is my ideal.

70-200 f4 for telephoto, saw one for 550 used on craigslist near me, have heard its an awesome lens
