SO because I have derealization I always have moments where I don't really know whats going on as if I'm always dreaming. But these moments lead me to some crazy thoughts or things I've analyzed by myself with my own logic. I really wanna see people different views on questions that are more open-ended.
Such as is a person a person once it can logically think for itself and analyze its surroundings?
Or is the human body just a capsule for the brain to have thoughts, logical, action and such pushed through? Could we think as ourselves if our brain was placed in a different body if there were feasible ways for a body transplant?
So is there a difference between the mind and a brain?
I have my own answer which is, Yes there is a significant difference. A brain is just a brain when you think about it. The brain is still classified itself without the mind in part of it. But to have a mind you need something for it to be contained in. It is almost like a gas that can only be used when contained. If it were not contained there would be no purpose for it other then to just be there.
I could write endless pages on these sorts of topics but that would take too long obviously. So back to the questions I've been asking you NS, Is there a difference between the brain and mind?
First things first, if the big bang theory is true, then everything that exists in this universe came from one source. For example, if a tree exploded, although the wood shoots far away from the orignal source. The wood was once originally part of the tree. As a result, you must assume that although the universe continues to expand, everything that every existed came into existence at that one moment. So we are still connected to the source that created everything.
So if you believe that fact to be true, our consciousness and the consciousness of other beings derived out of the one source. As a result, our consciousness is very much still connected to this main source.
Religion is an attempt to state this simple fact. However, most religions are also seeking power so they give you a bunch of rules to follow so that they can maintain this power. The truth regarding god or whatever you want to call it, is that god is the one source that we all derived from making everything that exists a little slice of god. . You are the universe experiencing itself through one tiny little part. Its like the cells in our bodies. If you were a cell, would you know that you were part of something bigger?
As a result, our brains are the device concocted so that the universe can experience itself. We think of life sometimes as being finite. Death isn't the end, its just the end of your little trip into the three dimensional world. Once you die, you go back to the main consciousness and main source which doesn't exist in time and space. It is a different dimension.
So what is our daily consciousness then and what are dreams? Waking consciousness and dreaming consciousness are not different from one in another in terms of realness. Both are real or both are fake. If you experience a dream, its real. How could you call it fake, you did experience it after all. Dreaming is us leaving the 3D space and exploring different dimensions. Its healthy and its a way to stay in connecting with the one source. Life itself is a dream if you haven't noticed. Try to look at life with the eyes of a baby, no labels, no judgements just pure observation. In this state of mind, you'll notice that life is a dream as well. The other day at work, I ate a bunch of Kratom, and in the midst of working I forgot who I was and what I was doing. I saw everything as if I had never seen our world before. It was really similar to a dream, which helped me realize that both waking and sleeping consciousness are not only very similar but both are real or not real depending on how you want to think of it.
What psychadelic drugs do is move you closer to the source of the one. You forget about your ego and move up the chain of consciousness. Its a dreamlike state. Since you have moved up the chain of consciousness, its much easier to actually understand what your consciousness is.
Sorry for writing an essay, but I thought I'd share what I have been thinking lately. If you're interested in consciousness, youtube any of these people and listen to what they have to say: Neil Kramer, Alan Watts, Terence McKenna, Timothy Leary.
