Best Overall Camera Lens?

I have a T2i and i am wondering what would be the best Overall Lens for Filming Park, and Pictures. I want a GREAT lens that i can carry onto my next nice Camera without worrying that a other lens are better, Thank You

We still kind need a price range on what you're willing to spend. If money actually is not object I say the 24 - 70 would the most useful all around lens for Canon, although I don't know much of video, you may want something wider especially on a T2i.

look at the other thread he made....its not serious......... anyway best overall lens imo is the 24-105mm for a 1000$ lens.

i would probably disagree for a T2i. if 24mm was my widest focal length i wouldn't be that stoked.


OP, there isn't really an all around lens that will suit all of your needs. if there was then we would all have it. but a great lens to look at is the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. I have a Canon 17-55mm f/2.8, so it's very similar, and it's my go-to lens in most situations.

absolutely nothing beats the 18-55mm kits lens. its soooo perfect for skiing. awesome in low light, great DoF, bokeh is beautiful, oh and the weather sealing is top notch! u cant go wrong with this lens. I know 100$ is a lot of money for a piece of glass, but this is Canon's best work!

I suggest a Canon ef 28-135mm, it has a good focal range. Everyone I know has one and loves it. They use it for video and photography no matter what the subject is. It is also only 400 dollars depending on where you are looking at buying one. The only problem I have is the f-stop is 3.5 which isn't bad but i would rather have a lens with f2.8.

definitely don't buy it. it's a great lens, but the tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is a MUCH better value. i wish i'd known about it when i bought the 17-55, i would have definitely bought the tamron instead.
