basically, different kernels with different roms allow for different performace results. some will give better battery life while others will be faster. for some reason I thought I remember reading that you can't flash those specifically on the X like you can on the EVO. if you've flashed quite a bit on your X and have never come across kernel flashing, then i'd bet that my memory is correct in that you can't get to it in a Moto.
