eeeeeem....I can defintely see where you are coming from, but if someone votes a video a 5/10 since that's the lowest YOU would allow it to go, it would still have the same affect on it if you could vote it a 1/10....know what I'm saying o-o?

You are a skilled skier, but I don't really understand why you're ranting. Maybe you should market yourself better and outside NS. I mean, Real Skifi had 25,000 views on their third video on Vimeo before they even posted it on NS, and on NS they have the lowest amount of views for their video compared to their uploads on Vimeo, Zapiks, Downdays, Freeride.se etc.

Use Facebook, Twitter, whatever to spread the word and you will get recognized. Also, a little humility goes a long way. It's good to have that little faith in you that says "I'm the shit" but it's not very good for other people to know that.

100% wrong... A 5 would become the new one... The worst videos would get 5 ratings and videos that previously got 5s would get 7s or 8s. All videos would be rated higher overall so it would be equally as hard to make it into the top rated videos. NS is a democracy, and so is the video section! Do you know what a mathematical "mean average" is? It has nothing to do with the stars, those could be bar graphs, percentage ratings, or turtles for that matter.

When you get 10 ratings of 10, and someone votes you a 1, your rating will go down. Thats the way it works. Thats how all average ratings work. Thats how math works. It's not based on stars, that is just the visual representation of the mathematically calculated mean average.

Ok, so I see you have done some research on how to reach an average mean.

What you are missing is, 5 becomes 0. How hard is that for you to understand? Bad videos will be rated as such, and sent to the bottom of the list in the exact same fashion. If you think by your calculations that a 7.0 on the 5-10 scale is better than a 5.6 on the 1-10 scale, you are literally retarded.

THEY ARE THE SAME THING. It's like you are hellbent on not having a 1 rated edit, but rather a 5.5. Its the same thing if 5 is the lowest you can go.

We might as well be playing tee-ball where everyone wins, and all games are chalked up to a "tie" and everyone gets a trophy at a pizza party. Every kid who makes an edit should get a sponsorship, an invite to the x-games, and a free travel budget to go film all season with real pros? Suuure....

Thats what the other categories are for, they dont depend on ratings. If everyone started posting their own edits in SG it would be a shitshow like BST. Once everyone is used to not having videos in SG, they will start using the video section more. If you look back at older edits that were only posted in the video section they have a shit ton of views even if their rating sucked.

BTW house artist of the year is different than artist of the year.

giving it a 7 is not tanking a score. Its actually pretty generous considering the only good thing in the edit was your skiing. The song didnt really seem to flow with the edit. Im not really a fan of dubstep (a few okay songs), shaky camera work, and off colors. Who named deadmau5 artist of the year? Just because it is a good song doesnt mean it will go good in an edit. Music is also subjective so it might just be my shitty opinion.

i dont think it should be rated 1, but what most people do is either give 1 or 10. For some people the filming/editing might have been enough to give it a 1. I liked all of the tricks you did, but I couldnt stand the song and some of the edititng and had a hard time getting through the whole thing. I gave it a 7 because the skiing was good. Edits that have both good editing and skiing will make it top rated everytime, if you are missing one of them it is hit or miss.
