Yea, Sand really good and use about 4 coats on top of 2 coats of white primer. I have painted many plastic car parts and 2 jet skis before so I was pretty familiar with how to paint stuff but I used these old skis to practice cause i didn't wanna mess up my AR6s

why paint over the din windows? I also feel that the skis would start to chip after the first run or two.

No, just until there is no more gloss on the top sheet, helps the paint stick better.

Skis won't chip...I'll bump the thread after a couple days on them. I painted over the din window cause my dins are already dialed in

I would be worried about paint getting into the inside of the bindings, just saying but the skis look cool

I'm not worried about it as I have many Salomon binding scraps laying around my garage and the shop where I work.

If anybody is in the SF bay/Tahoe area and wants me to do up a pair of their skis it can be done for beer and the cost of paint.

I like it. If you have clear coat, you can throw a few coats on top of you like. I always did on mine and they're still around.

Here are my rock skis...painted quite a while ago and now also covered in stickers:

nice job bro those things are off the hook. and yea i used a flat based clear coat cause i used all flat colors, no gloss on this paint job

Iv always wanted to airbrush my skis.... The airbrushed wood grain would look dope!! Or a marble Grafix.. The paint will hold better if sanded 1st(400 grit metal sandpaper... Any grit under 400 and you'll see the sand srach marks thru the paint, so use a 400 or 600 grit.and wipe the dust n shit off with a damp cloth, and if you where just eating pizza or a greasy food was your hands good B4, that shit could fuck up a paint!! And build up the paint in very light coats, don't dump the 1st coat on, heave coats chip off in chunks. Iv never painted skis but these are some simple rules for painting. I'm an automotive painter

The paint could easily be scrached off the Din window with a razor, if need be. But once its set your good to go!

added some garage lab rocker to these puppies today since they have become my experiment skis. turned out a good even taper that held. I will post pics of the profile/ rocker process if anybody is interested
