So much love for waffles in this thread. I'm definitely a pancake person. My mom used to make THE BEST pancakes ever, homemade batter and all, so maybe I'm a little biased. I refuse to eat frozen waffles/pancakes too. That shit's gross.

Most european pancakes arent exactly the pancakes you americans think about. I would refer to that in the pic as a "normal" pancake, as we have them here most of the time.

the difference is, that a crepe is bigger and way thinner then what europeans (or at least germans) refer to as pancake.

Well, I use wheat flour, sugar, butter, olive oil, salt, eggs, milk, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, sparkly mineral water (like Vichy) and fry them on a hot, oily pan. Then serve with either whipped cream, sugar, strawberry jam or a mix of all.

you guys should try "crêpes blé noir" they're french pancakes but made from a different kind of flour, they taste saltier and go very well with bacon and eggs, if you're ever in france in a restaurant that serves them you should give it a try !

Couldn't agree more, belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberries! Haven't had them in probably a year or more, but when I was younger I ate them all the time, so good!


Plus where I live, pure natural maple syrup made from my neighbors trees......Makes any pancake or waffle instant heaven

It's literally called "pancake" in Finnish, but I haven't found any alternative words for it. In the army, every Thursday we had pea soup and pannukakku, always a morale booster.
