Goggles Under Helmet!! Opinions

So what do you guys think about putting goggles under your ski helmet? i see it alot more now not really sure why people do this rather then use the goggle holder on the helmet?

This thread has been done so many times. But to answer your question- the cool kids at the obstacle course wear goggles under their helmets.

helps my helmet stay on tighter to be honest and when u wanna take off your helmet but keep the goggles on on bright dayz its a plus.. alot of people seem to do it for the "style" and the "look". but for me it all has a purpose.......

Wouldnt it be nice if we didn't see this thread everyday ! But any hoot, I find goggles under helmet much more comfortable and keeps the band in better condition...

I do it because i dont have a goggle clip on my helmet and so if i stack i will lose my goggles. My helmet fits tighter. It holds my icons to my ears better. It keeps the strap in better condition. I can take off my helmet on sunny days without being blinded. It fits with my helmet better. All of these answers are mine but im sure have been given before in the other threads.

I personally don't think it's looks better by any means. I know some peeps do it for comfort reasons or due to lack of a clip but please don't do it for style reasons.....unless you wanna look like a "slow" kid. Plus nearly every person I see rockin that has super goggle gap.

I put them under because my goggle clip fell of my helmet. also the helmet fits better with them under. so pretty much the same reasons as everyone else.

goggles fit better, looks way better IMO, helmet fits better, and you can move your helmet and goggles up if you want.

i love how every one is saying goggles fit better, when companies spend a ton of money researching goggle/helmet integration, ex: oakley outriggers, and articulating outriggers on smith IOs

not saying there is any right/wrong way to wear, just pointing that out

and ib4 i heard too that people in the obsticle course wear their goggs under... i lol'd

find me a decent pro who wears they're goggles on the outside. then you may have a point, im sure they're are some, but a whole lot more put them underneath

To be honest it serves no functional purpose for me, I just like the way it looks. It makes your head look less bulky IMO. Also anyone know how this got started? Pretty curious

okay great, also something id like to add, it seems like a lot of powder/big mountain riders will put them on the outside. i dont know why. my reasoning would probably have something to do with snow getting all in and up under there, and the fact thats its more secure. also pipe riders do the same, most likely for the same reason.

i bet you dont understand what i mean by gangster do you? there is a difference between "gangsta" and "gangster". gagsta, is hoodrat, and has no place in skiing, get that shit outta here. but gagster is different, what i mean by it is the full steezy package of style, hitting rails and jumps like its nothing, being low and steezy at all times. and having a "dont giva a sigle fuck" look to you.

i started doing it this season and it's nice to know if you fall really hard, your goggles won't fly off your head and get buried in the snow. then, you can't really wear your goggles anymore that day because they'll be all wet and smudgy on the inside lens.

ive never done it any orher way. i used to use a skate helmet so you would have to put the goggles under so i just do it under now.

hmmmmm. But I know what you meant by what you said, I hear little 12 year old kids describing their tricks as "gangster" every time I am skiing, and I still just don't understand it. It sounds extremely trashy

I'm gonna guess that it was because kids in the park were told to wear a helmet, and instead of buying a new shitty looking one they used their old skate helmet that made underneath a necessity. Then it caught on and is now associated with skilled, stylish park riders.

ITT: Kids don't want to admit (to themselves?) that they wear their goggles under the helmet because it's fashionable. Instead they try to come up with reasons why it's a better way. For me, wearing goggles under the helmet is a case of fashion before function. I did it when I was 15, but I don't anymore because over makes more sense.

If everyone started to wear their goggles over their helmet because it was fashionable, I would still go under because that's what works best for me.  There are absolutely no drawbacks to wearing them under my helmet, and any problem you may have had with them, I have found a solution for.

Even though my helmets fit, when I used to go goggles over and the helmet moved a little bit, it moved the goggles with them.  Despite having a strap clip, who knows what the strap is doing on the rest of the helmet, even good people with goggles over have little waves and crooked sections in the strap and the gapers have twisted straps. 

With my goggles under, so many problems have been eliminated.  They are much more comfortable and they are glued to my face.  If you were seriously having issues wearing them under, you're just too stupid to figure things out.

It's just like stepping on my heelpieces to take my skis off.  It's like center mounting my skis.  It's like having slightly shorter poles.  It's one of the countless tricks of our trade that we have come up with.  Sure our methods break convention, look different, and maybe appear 'cooler', but everything I do has a legitimate purpose.  When it comes to 'looking cool', I don't rely on how I wear my goggles to display that, I do it by ripping the mountain apart and having a great time with my buddies.

My XL Saga jacket on the other hand, is really something to argue about.

Yeah I hate the way it looks. Not hatin on peeps or talkin shit but everytime I see it I think of someone with "special needs". It just makes the persons head look weird. I also don't get how it's comfortable. Like doesn't the plastic adjusters get pushed into your head? Again, if you can't afford a legit helmet or whatever and have to rock it that way, I'm really not hatin. But it doesn't look good at all. How it could be claimed as stylish is beyond me.
