Which one would you prefer or recommend to the videographer looking to upgrade his kit lens? The canon lens is almost 2x the cost, is it really worth it? PLEASE HELP!

This, I have seen you make 3 threads on this. If you read around NS a tamron is probably the most recommended lens on this site, It will definitely fulfill your needs and it will save you a few hundred dollars. Use the money you saved to buy a mic or something.

the 17-40L is a good lens, but for video the 17-50 2.8 will be just as good. I doubt you can tell the difference in sharpness and the tamron has a better range AND is faster. Save your money, buy the tamron. You can find them for 350 on ebay.
