The Life of a Professional Ski Guide

I know for a lot of NSers, being a ski guide at a heli or cat skiing operation would classify as a dream job. I am one of those NSers. While searching the internet for info about ski guides and what it would take to become one, i stumbled apon this interesting essay/article.

Professional ski guide Donny Roth gives us a small glimpse of what the life of a professional ski guide is like from first hand experience.

Its a pretty good read and shows both the ups and the downs of guiding.

yeah me too, he brings up a good point about holding a relathionship though. It would be really tough with a job like that.

true. though if i landed my dream job (ski guide) than i must get my dream girl (skier female) and that should take care of it. she can go skiing with me where ever i go

that was a great read. he brought up so many good points. in a way, i could relate to them. i often get told how "lucky" i am to get to ski a world-class mountain 4+ days/week, when in reality i make countless sacrifices for each and every ski day. not complaining in the least... but it's just reality.

Good read, met him over the summer in Portillo (though he doesn't work there full time anymore). I agree with a lot of what he said, I lead a very similar life and there are definitely sacrifices, but at the moment, I am not changing a thing.
