In all my years of skiing I had never been on a race course until recently. Im involved with a "fun" locals race series (boarders, twintippers, teleskiers on same team) in vail through work and I participate in the races. Its unbelievable that every mountain provides terrain parks to the public, but never in 20 years had I been timed on a race course. Its actually really fun!
I brought this fact up during a race meeting and was laughed at. The public is not welcome on a race course....lol, what a bunch of clowns.
Its week 3 and the "hardcore" racers dudes are all serious at the top of the course and were pretty much hating on my twintips, baggy pants, and poles that are too short...I turned backward in the gate, and pushed off, watching the speed suits disappear I attacked the gs course switch, looking over one shoulder the whole time I posted an official time which was not the slowest time of the day and was only a few seconds slower than my first time.
Next week, we are trying to have a "freestyle" category....
