Beneath Tahoe's Surface

Jacque Cousteau supposedly traveled down there a long time ago in a sub, filmed what he saw, resurfaced and threw out the tapes...claiming that "the world is not ready for what's at the bottom of Lake Tahoe." Supposedly there is a dead zone down there that, in a way, cryogenically preserves a human body.

What do people think about this? Super creepy shit.

Also, just for evidence, a diver's body was found (PERFECTLY PRESERVED) last summer, after he had been missing for over 19 years.

Imagine how many dead Native Americans are down there, feathers still in hair. Rad.

That'd be awesome, but seems pretty unlikely.....the truckee river flows from tahoe to pyramid, though, so that'd maybe answer a canoe getting there.

Definitely heard lots of stories about preserved bodies and all sorts of crazy shit being down there. When I lived there that story about cousteau was basically the first thing Iearned, then there was chinaman point where all the workers that died building the road/railroad were dropped in--folklore says there's a big pile of them haha that'd be fucked up to see

Folklore. Half of tahoe is int he sierra's and the other half or east side of the lake is the carson range. The carson range is part of the horst graben zone of nevada aka drop fault blocks between raised blocks. Therefor there are major fault lines that run north to south through ALL of nevada starting from tahoe east. In short that is how tahoe was created, it is a horst or dropped fault block. ( might have this backward) those Fault would not allow such "underground river to exist . There is seepage from tahoe on the other side of the carson range such as washoe lake and wetlands right east of carson city, but no underground rivers.ALSO to prove my point, the math for average evap of the lake is very well studied + the lake level is controlled with a damn so there is no signifigant loss in elevation from an unknown factor such as an underground river.

not much of a story?!?! that would scare me so bad. just the story itself creeped me out.

I am aware of underwater preservation, I am just curious if its really as widespread as you all are claiming.

I'll be watching for more links/info.

Cool places always have dark sides. The last house i lived in in Truckee  was 200 yards from the place the Donner's were camped for the winter. 200 yards from a place were humans ate other humans out of desperation. Fucking incredible place though.
