Jacque Cousteau supposedly traveled down there a long time ago in a sub, filmed what he saw, resurfaced and threw out the tapes...claiming that "the world is not ready for what's at the bottom of Lake Tahoe." Supposedly there is a dead zone down there that, in a way, cryogenically preserves a human body.

What do people think about this? Super creepy shit.

Also, just for evidence, a diver's body was found (PERFECTLY PRESERVED) last summer, after he had been missing for over 19 years.

Imagine how many dead Native Americans are down there, feathers still in hair. Rad.

the jacques cousteau story doesnt seem to be verifiable but one thing's for sure, that lake def has the possibility of having some crazy shit down there cause of how deep and cold it is. i bet if you went down there you'd find a good amount of trash and bodies

I've heard that there are hundreds of dead Chinese laborers at the bottom of the lake. There's definitely lots of creepy stuff down at the bottom of the lake, I'd love to see footage of the bottom.

If that diver was down there for that long then im sure there are Washoe indians down there that are just as preserved. Thermoclines develop in deep water and density changes with temperature so there is a point at which the density of the cold water would hold above it a zone in which bodys can be suspended and preserved. Every year i have been there i have heard of people disapearing, and one person dies every summer. This last year it happend at my job, luckily i was in LA gettin some.

Lake Pend Oreille is the same way. it gets as deep as 1200 feet. the navy tests submarines down there.

not much of one

i was jumping off an old dock in Hope(east side of the lake). water was pretty deep but you could make it to the bottom. so i decided to dive off a different section of the dock. everytime i dove i usually brought something up from the bottom just to make it a little more challenging.

I dove and went about 15/20feet before hitting the bottom and starting feeling around for something to carry back up. but suddenly i realized i grabbing a foot. i freaked out and shot back to the surface and called 911. when they came i told them what happened and got the fuck out of there

What became of it? Like the body and all who was it what happened all that jazz?

And I guarantee Jaques Cousteau isn't the only person to have dove in tahoe, there has to be other people who have been down there. But now after the preserved body I'm sure that scientists and the california government will send people/subs whatever down there. How deep is tahoe anyway? I know it's really deep but how deep?

the lake's like 1600 feet or so at points, and you can only dive to.....idk i forget, nowhere close to that. i dont know how much of the bottom has been explored, itd be quite an expensive endeavor i would think

and im not sure the cousteau story is true. im no authority on the subject but im not sure it's a verifiable story

Researched deep lakes.. Crater Lake is the deepest. Anyone from the coast have any background on that?

This is off the top of my head. Crater lake was once Mt. Montazuma. It was a black voolcano/strato volcano that blew its top. AKA huge volcano like shasta or HOOD that just exploded. The cinder cone popped up later. Its an incredible place, so pretty it looks fake.

whaaat dude diving on shelves is the sickest fucking thing ever. first time i did one i almost jizzed my wetsuit from all the dope life i saw. you could peer out into the darker water and see huge eagle rays gliding by. so sick

Wow. I definitely doubted that so I just googled it. Apparently there's a 5314 foot deep lake in siberia that goes like 4000 feet below sea level. Crazy stuff

I heard about the diver, that's super gnarly (but not surprising, given the depth and temperature I always figured that bodies could be very well preserved down there). It would be really interesting (in a creepy sort of way) if someone went down there again in a sub and actually revealed what was found-I could imagine that finding preserved Washoe natives or something similar would be like staring at history in the cold, dead face (morbid yes, but fascinating at the same time)

Lake Tahoe is also supposedly linked with Pyramid Lake, which is like 70 miles north, through an underground stream/cannal thing. I forget the full story, but w while ago some canoe from Lake Tahoe ended up at Pyramid.

Dude. I was in Oregon when I was in like 5th grade. We had a beach side hotel-condo type thing. We went out for a walk on the beach at like 10-11. It was soooooooo sketchy, you couldn't see the water and like five feet in front of you. I was hearing shit, I just booked it back out of there. The ocean is freakin creepy

pardon my ignorance, but is that something that a scientist would say is a real possibility? or is it like folklore? either way, just the idea of it is soo fucking sick. makes me think of like a zelda game or something, you gotta get a dope scuba suit and go to the bottom and make your way thru the tunnel to pyramid lake
