I need ideas NS! real world implications +k

So I just got a job with a jump center. For those of you who dont know what that is it is a place that has trampolines everywhere.

It is a brand new place, two months old. I am the first marketing coordinator they have ever had. I am also fresh out of college last May and this will be my first adult job lol.

What I am asking you NS is I need ideas for team building activities for corporations. Right now I am responsible for building corporate packages and event packages. We want to try to book some team building events because most organisations and companies have money allotted to those type of events, easier sell.

So if you were at a teambuilding event in a facility that had a HUGE trampoline area, as u saw above, a trampoline dodgeball arena, and a trampoline halfpipe with a foam pit what would you expect to be doing.

+k for legit answers, please help out. This job can turn into something great for me and I would really appreciate the ideas.

if you're talking about ideas for like kids then i have a few

obviously dodgeball games
backflip contests
handball? like the goals would be one of the upright trampolines on each side
some type of redrover/fishy fishy cross my ocean type game'd be pretty sick haha you could try to jump over people

who can jump the farthest distance into the foam pit?

I think he is looking more for ways to market it as a corporate team building exercise. Does it have a website? If so just try to make it appealing and remember people are always looking for places to tramp

Thats correct. I am looking more towards corporations, adults. After we get them in hopefully they will be wanting to bring their kids. Also the events bring in lot of money.

They do have a website, but I need ideas to pitch to the GM and sell him on myself. Like i said before I am the first to do this job so I have to impress him.

I'm tempted to say "it's your job and responsibility, come up with ideas yourself instead of relying on others".

But what is that halfpipe thing, looks very weird.

Oh god, this is somewhat of a hard one, after all a trampoline place is seen as a very physical activity, therefore some businesses looking for team building events might not fit the ticket- some people might be left out. now keeping that in mind, I feel that making it seem more fun than an actual competition is definitely the way to go, that way the less physically fit won't be left out. As in you don't want people name calling others when it comes to a dodgeball game, or having someone bitch out their team, etc. You also don't want to make it seem too demanding by getting everyone to do flips, it might work out but it's better to be on the safe side, especially dealing with people 40+ who have never flipped before- it's a big step so I am thinking belly flop kind of things into the foam pit. But who ever is running it- when it comes to actual companies showing up really has to set the appropriate mood or else no one will have fun.

Well it is what it looks like, a halfpipe trampoline. It is three 65' trampolines that run on the floor and on the walls. At the end of the pipe is a foam pit. So you can go down it jump left right or right down the middle and when you get to the end there's a foampit for you to trick into.

Since trampolines are viewed as such a physical thing, then OP you should definitely try to stress the fact that "anyone can bounce on a trampoline" and "it's not just for kids anymore". I don't know, I'm just trying to throw ideas out there. I think you should just try to make it so that ANYONE, even 300 pound women that sit at a desk all day, would feel comfortable going there with their friends from their business. You would also have to almost, "quickly assess" the group as they go to know what games or things to do for fun. If you notice the group is all older people then stay away from any jump contests and stick to team games. Like dodgeball or something but just on trampolines to add that extra fun part to it.
If you have a business of say: a mountain bike company and all of the workers and people that come in for the outing, are all mid 20's athletic type people, then you could definitely do some types of backflip competitions or jump competitions or something a little different than the other group. What you do is almost specific to what group of people are doing it, which does make it hard to market. That's what you're hired for though. Basically make an easy way to say "anyone can do it, anyone no matter what their age/height/weight/athletic ability, will have fun here". I hope that helps a little. Sorry if it's not useful, I just tried to give some ideas.

Thanks man. Was helpful for sure. I like the anyone can do it idea and I will try to build from that.

Mike-O from what you said earlier "it's your job and responsibility, come up with ideas yourself instead of relying on other" I have come up with some ideas I just want to see if there is anything I have left out or something that sparks an idea I wouldnt have thought of.

I broke my leg in the middle of like 20 tramps at one of those a few years ago. I layed on the tramp for like 30 seconds and the workers yelled at me to get up because you can't sit I guess. I was super pissed. They did give me free soda, food, and vouchers to make up for it though. But anyways dodgeball tournaments there were always fun.

I rethought and had the idea of making the foam pit into some sort of trust exercise like a trust fall then relate it to the workplace.

Trust fall idea is good, team building would make them want to work together to accomplish something rather than have them throwing balls at each other.  relay races around the perimeter of the tramps might work.  Or wich team can make it accross in the fewest number of jumps.

think about possible competition and what they do. like rafting, high ropes courses or such stuff.

i would say you need a real program for a whole/half day possibly with food and drinks, places to rest.

at first some warmup games (really be creative there, you can do so fun stuff in groups), then some easy competitions where anybody can be a part regardless of fitness level if possible.

just structure everything and have some program.


if youre really serious about team building and not just company outings, you could also use some sort of conference room for seminars on motivation/team building between the competitions.

Competitions, teams, teamwork games, teamwork competitions. Dodgeball is good as the teams will work together even if it's a fun game. maybe small comps like who can jump highest or do the most spins, or three legged tramp races or trick comps(I'd love to see two people try a flip tied together). Maybe synchronized jumping or tricks to learn to work together , or crazy games like pass a ball down the line but you can only pass it while your both in the air, like first guy jumps and passes to a second guy that jumps just after him and the third jumps just after the second to catch the pass then passes to the fourth who jumped just after him, timing and working together would be key.

Be creative, work out some of your ideas with your fellow employees before you get real clients to see what works and what doesn't.

OK that's about all of your job I'm gonna do for ya, but you get the idea. Corporations are all about teamwork, communication, and overcoming problems, so stick to that and you should be able to rope in some big fish. Good luck

Haha well your name is theBearJew...so wasn't expecting real formal, I just enjoy busting balls, and licking balls


We could do a marketing plan as a group project for our club for you guys if you sponsored us (basically us selling a service, without selling, so we don't have to pay taxes). That money goes to us so we can go on trips like this Spring we are going to the NYSE.

If your company seriously wanted to pay us money we would do it, but right now we are working on a few local companies (in upstate NY)

create an amazing race style competition throughout the building. Like have an obstacle course, skill testing questions, having to balance a bowl full of water on your head to fill up another bucket, hide things in the foam pit that they have to find, group puzzles where they can then finally have a company dinner afterwards?
