There's no such thing as mental preparation really. It's the attitude you bring when you're actually up there doing it. It's like masturbating alot to prepare for sex, it won't make you any better... First day, just go up there and hit the biggest jump you can find, with the most speed of course, on the first run, whatever happens, happens.

its seriously all in your brain. i mean, to get rotations down and the feel of doing flips and stuff, the tramp or the diving board is good, but hitting a 60 footer is a whole different ball game. if you have any friends that are better than you, go with them. riding with better skiers will always push you to excel. im sure its different for some people, but i like to really think through each individual part of the jump before i do it, and as im doing it. it just helps me not to make any stupid little mistakes.
i dont know really aside from that. its totally a mental game though.

buying shit gets me going for the season, Waiting for ups gets me mentally in the zone. dont ask how i couldnt tell ya, try to find things that will give you confidence when skiing and use them everyday. Ex. i wear a mouth piece around all the time at home. That gives you an extra boost of confidence on the snow. try it you will be amazed.
