Holy shit black out night skiing at the MTN!

Okay so here is the deal. I am a ski instructor at mt. ashland in Oregon and as you all may or may not know oregon is getting shit on with snow right now! anyways mt. Ashland does a after school night ski lessons for the surrounding middle and elementary schools. Tonight was one of the first sessions we were suppose to have so the kids were mostly new and oblivious to everything with skiing. anyways after the idiot buss driver hit a car in the parking lot and all the kids got their gear... it was time to start the lessons. as we begin to get everyone placed in categories based on skill level. shit hit the fan. The MTN was mostly lit up by the lights because it was about 730 and ALL THE POWER WENT OUT. Kids stuck on the lifts with close to 50 or 60 mph winds and crazy snow falling from the sky. Shit was nuts but everyone as far as we know made it out safely. Has anything like this ever happend to you guys?

it would be scary to have the lights on the trails suddenly shut off leaving you skiing in pitch black

it was scary when the lights were on! shit was real scary when you couldnt see anything at all. not even the lodge was lit for a while!

I got stuck on the chairlift twice at smuggs one year. The lift had to run on a generator or something so it took like 2 hours to get to the top.

Dude that must have been so gnarly. Glad to hear everyone made it out okay. But holy fuck dude, we are getting hammered right now! I'm at Bachelor and considering not going up because it will be too deep. 6ft of snow in three days, and the cascade concrete just doesn't sound fun to me.

You would think that of everyone at the resort, at least one person would run into a tree or a pole after the lights went out. Glad everyone got out okay!

got stuck on a chair last year and something went wrong, we were stuck up halfway with no lights in ridiculous winds and driving snow for around 45 minutes right at the end of night skiing, so we were up after it was supposed to close, they went around and told us they were going to get us down with a rope but they got the gen working.

long story short, had a crazy pow run with everyone from the chair and the whole ski patrol while being escorted by 3 cats providing lights and they gave us all a free hot chocolate.

on a pow night a few season ago we took a run in the dark on the side of the mountain that wasnt lit for night skiing. it was kinda weird.sat there for a little to let out eyes adjust and once they did, it really wasnt that hard to ride or see. granted it was untouched pow, so we didnt have to worry bout bumps, but idk if i would do it again, it was a little gnar in some spots.

I would crap myself if i was just cruising and all the sudden the lights went off on the run. stuck on the chair would be the worst though, i hate when the chair stops in the daylight just because of the wait. but in the pitch black blowing snow?! fuck that.

...kinda crazy that Pep's home mountain is darn nearly unknown, even in Oregon.
