Nothin beats a subaru.  Even if it's an old pos, it's better than most cars. 

Plus they run forever.  I got mine free with over 200 thousand miles on it, and beat to crap.

I love it and I don't hesitate at all to drive it to the pass

99 Jeep grand cherokee laredo v8 is the best mountain vehicle there is. I got it when I was sixteen have had it since then (i'm 20) charges up the mountains, toss it in low gear when the passes are covered in snow, i always feel safe. Amazing car.

I've owned a subaru outback, jeep grand cherokee, and a tahoe in the last 10 years. all great cars in the snow, but if you have the cash for gas the tahoe crushes the other two in terms of storage and in not getting stuck. easily fits 4-5 people plus a shit ton of gear, has more clearance, does better in the snow, and unfortunately gets 13mpg.

This, ever since my dad got a tacoma I like em alot more. Japanese trucks to me are a bit better in many aspects.

american (full sized) trucks are better. A tacoma is awesome if you only go skiing with one other person.

to answer the OP, the best ski vehicle is either a 1/2 ton or a 3/4 ton pickup with a modest lift and good tires. I know this because I have had it, also have had a small truck (toyota), a subaru, a RWD coupe and a FWD sedan.

I have a tacoma and it fits 5 people plus a healthy amount of gear, I don't know what you're smoking. Plus I can fit in the gaps all the gapers leave between their cars at the lodge.

Plus tow a 40 foot boat and run over anything from hookers to other cars. Excursions are boss as fuck.

americans make the best full size pickups out there today. Toyota makes a decent truck tacoma is certainly a pretty awsome small truck but the tundra can't compare to how bullet proof those american diesels are

I suppose, I mean with a crew cab and long bed the thing is pretty good. It can fit five people 2 of them being very comfy while the others being moderate. With a longbed, you can fit tons of skis, bags, even a generator if you need to and pretty good fuel economy.

Trucks are terrible for snow unless you have a good amount of weigh in your bed. I thought that was pretty much common knowledge

I can fit them on the rack on top of the shell (I can also fit them diagonally in the bed, or diagonally in the cab, but that won't be too comfortable for the passengers). I've never gotten it stuck in the snow and we got 650" last year. Since then I've added BFG all terrains and Bilstein 5100s so it should do even better.

Also, without ski gear, it seats 14

haha this has been said before but subaru. my impreza hatchback is the shit in snow, whips dope 3s in parking lots, gets great mileage, and fits 4 plus all our shit pretty comfortably up to the mountain with a ski rakc.

I love mine. The gas mileage sucks, but who gives a fuck when you're blasting through absolutely everything easily when all the kids in their Subarus are stuck on the side of the road.
