270 off problem

I been trying for a while to do 270's off but I just cant seem to be able to get it. Everytime I go for it i just hit the tips of my skis on the box/rail. I could really use some advice. Thanks

grip the rail/box with your ski and when you get to the eand really concentrate on jumping up hard and looking over your shoulder.it might take some practice but you can learn in half a day.

drop the heel of your front foot's ski to split your skis, this should just start turning you, all you have to do then is jump and spin the remainder.

use whatever your forward foot is and point the tail of your ski down as if gripping the rail. this will stop your momentum. When you get to the point on the rail where you would normally pop off and ride away just pop a little harder and turn your torso towards the rail.

thats only if your doing front 2 out though

its all aboot the grip, seriously. once you get the grip down (back and front foot) it'll unlock lots of new tricks for you, most importantly the 2 off. practice the grip a lot and really try and plant your weight on the grip foot. use it to push off and initiate your spin. it's the easiest on boxes with circle coping I've found.

I actually learned mine from the video, so it can happen. I wasn't able to get the complete spin and would do a 180 off the rail, and I screwed up my knee

i had the same problems with pretz 4's. just pop. literally jump off the rail and go faster. hope that helps

OP ive seen you try, you need to wait until you are at the end of the rail. you try and spin too early and thats why you catch

when you get towards the end, put a little bit of pressure on your leading inside edge, then bend your knees, pop, and spin out

The rules of pretzel as explained in another by NS member Fink:

A pretzel is when you change your spin direction spinning out after 180 degrees or more of prior rotation.. as in spin on or swap. This makes the trick in the video a fs 270 out not a pretzel 270 out. You would think that with how much the term is embedded in skiing it would be universally understood, however I guess it's popularity is still only 4 or 5 years old.

i had this same problem you are probably just doing it too early. That was my problem i would spin to early and hit my skies on the rail/box

Need more pop for sure. I recently got over the same problem. I just relax on the rail and pop harder, also dont rush and pop too early
