Alright I googled and and couldnt find my self an answer. I was hitting a jump yesterday and I knuckled it pretty badly. I felt pretty weird, light headed, and just felt over all weird. I never blacked out but I wonder If at one point I was in a concussion. Also does a mouthguard help? I heard they do.
mouth guards help a lot. Concussions can be caused by your jaw smacking down on itself. If you got one from knuckling that is probably what happened. so a mouthguard would have helped.
Probably have a concussion. I see this a lot on the hill. Concussion symptoms can get worse after the initial injury. It would be a good idea to see a doctor. You MUST see a doctor if your symptoms get worse. Don't screw around with this type of injury, it is your brain after all.
Yea thanks for your help. I went to the doctor and I have a stage 1 concussion, but barely that. Out of the fellow ns's how long does it take to recover?
Take it easy on Saturday, you don't want to re-concuss yourself or further the damage to your brain. So just ride around for a little bit. If you're feeling good, try stuff(keep it small). If you're still feeling concussed just ride around with your friends and just video tape or something. You definitely do not want to fuck up your brain even worse. Stay safe.
it sounds like yours wasn't too bad....but I know several people who ignored their injury and literally almost died in their sleep, obviously they were pretty severe( ex: smacking their head on a rock) but people should be careful, @ least let your parents know next time
Its all good and I know, I googled it for like 15 mins and then I figured a lot of ns's most of gotten concussions and wanted first hand accounts and what I should do. I never have ever really been badly injured.
The thing about blackouts is that you don't know you're in one, which is scary. I don't know your whole situation, but you could have blacked out and you just don't remember it.
Did you 'see stars' or have any other visual impairment?
Nevertheless, it seems like you're gonna be fine. Remember that I'm nowhere close to a doctor so don't take anything I said as fact. If you puke or your head starts to hurt, or basically anything out of the ordinary happens, seek medical help.
Yea I know, but I was with someone. I mean my friends would of noticed, but when I came home (45 min drive) I passed out but this is 90 mins after this had happened. But I think I was tired. I never saw stars and nor was my vision impaired. Thanks for the advice though.
the best thing to do when you get a concussion is to just lay down and go to bed. when you wake up you you'll feel great! you won't even realize you had a concussion previously!
Just like everyone else said it sounds like you probably got a concussion to me.
I'm no doctor either, but I've had at least eight concussions and on most of them I do remember at least seeing stars or not being able to see for a couple minutes after. I could move around and stuff but I couldn't see, it was freaky.
It also depends on where you hit your head too. Just take it easy for a little because repeated concussions one after another can cause bad brain damage/problems.
That's what happened to me and I'm dealing with brain damage issues now. I got a concussion skiing, then the next day, me being tall, I hit my head on the ceiling walking down stairs, then fell down the stairs hitting my head again at my grandparents house and passed out. Not a good combo. So just take it easy for a little and you'll be fine!
Dont fuck with head injuries, seriously. I had a pretty bad one last summer and was out of school for a month and a half. Give it more time, 2-3 weeks and you'll be perfect
I got a concussion in football two years ago.. after about 2-3 weeks i thought i was good. Came back played a game and got another concussion the next practice. Fucked my whole season..Even if you feel good to go, be positive that the doctor says your ready. I would hate to be out a ski season.
