Hole pattern

I recently had a binding rip out. I want to take my bindings off,Head Mojo 12(which are mounted center) and put Marker griffons on (try to keep them centered).

My question is: Does the hole pattern in Marker Griffons differ enough from head mojo 12's that i can keep the toe piece mounted where my Mojo toe piece is mounted so i can keep the bindings mounted center?

first of all, i am like 95% sure the holes will not line up, you will need to put them a cm or two back. second, you can't screw in bindings into the same holes after you've taken them out, it won't have enough grip cause you've already stretched the hole to the size of the screw, whereas the hole is slightly smaller when you first put screw it in so it fits tightly and grips better.

I know i need to move the heel piece back, but i can screw them forward to keep them mounted center..I'm asking if the screws on the toe piece of Griffons differ enough(like wider, or different spot on the toe piece from mojo) from the Mojo 12's so that i can keep the toe piece mounted in the same area .therefore keeping me center mounted ?

oh, ok. sorry, read the OP wrong. well i can't help you there, but i wouldn't count on them being wide enough to mount in the same space. you need a drill hole's width in between holes for mounts.

It is possible to offset the heel piece enough to wear you can keep a center mounted stance. You'll have to play around with it to find the best spot and then mark it down on the ski and explain it to the shop tech you take them to so he remounts them correctly. Make sure you leave ample amount of room when you are rearranging the bindings as to make sure the existing holes aren't too close to where the new holes would be.

Quick question... why not re-mount/helicoil the Mojos? They're probably about on-par with Griffons...

I don't think it's the heel piece i have to worry about because i am going to move those back a bit and just move them forward on the bracket. But i have to keep the toe piece mounted in the same spot as my existing bindings to keep me mounted center correct? If i am wrong please tell me.. and any idea how far away the new holes will have to be away from the existing?

I am nervous that the black plastic piece is going to break again(doesn't seem too durable) and I don't like how the brakes screw into the ski itself because if i ruin the brake i have to take the binding off i believe

No you are correct - if you want dead center, your toe would theoretically need to stay in the same place.

However, since the Marker Griffon's have a significantly different mounting pattern versus the Mojo's you  could fudge the mount by about 1cm and be fine.

That miniscule of an offset from center would be negligible. You would never know you were -1cm from center unless the tech told you.

As far as distance from the old holes - its all dependent. You can't definitively say "1cm is good" but from my experience, if you hardwood plug the old holes vs plastic plug - you can drill relatively close to the old holes without any issues what so ever.

Take these to a reputable shop and they should be able to take care of everything for you.

If your worried about the plastic then just get the Mojo/peak/deadbolt 15 instead. That heel is one tough piece of metal. And as for worrying about brakes, Tyrolia brakes are very sturdy and hard to bend etc, whereas with marker I've heard a ton of problems with crappy brakes. I just think getting griffons to do all this is too much fuss

Have you considered just re-mounting the Mojos? They are a better binding in my opinion, and any shop can do a cheap heli-cal fix. Just saying...

Heli-coil and remount the original bindings. If your shop knows what they are doing then a heli-coil repair job will be actually stronger than the original mount! IMO and depending on your skiier type and what you do on those skis, then I would only consider Jesters/Jester Pro's in the Marker range of bindings.
