What camera should I get?

I will be answering the questions in order from https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/552650/

1) The most I can spend is about 700 dollars.

2) I don't have much experience with cameras but I have a pretty good understanding of them and could figure things out pretty easily.

3) They only gear I have for it right now is a small tripod

4) I will be shooting almost entirely skiing.  I will also probably shoot time lapses occasionally.

5) It would be nice If I could let my friends use the camera but that's not all that important to me.

6) When I'm filming it's almost always from a tripod.  I would still do follow cams sometimes too.

7) I don't currently have a good computer so I don't know what one I will be using for editing.

Try and look at either the HF M41 if you want memcard, or the HV40 if you want tapes, upto you, both really nice.

With that budget I'm going to recommend that you stay away from a DSLR before anyone says "Get a t2i" or something like that. I always hear people recommending things like the HV40 in this situation but if I were looking to get into filming on a budget I'd probably look at things like the Canon VIXIA. I'm a photog so take that with a grain of salt.

And VIXIA referring to the flash ones like the HF M41. I realize that the HV40 is also one but I wouldn't be a fan of using tapes.

I won't be able to get anything until I can get a job over the summer.  If you still have it at that point I would be interested.
