Gronkowski is the second coming of Christ. Not Tebow
When you play the whole game as the Patriots do, this tends to happen. Blame it on the coach, he should take credit for Hernandez getting laid out. Gronk and Hernandez are on another level though- I'm not sure any defense will be able to stop them in the post season.
on another semi-related note, i am pretty sure that we will see a higher emphasis being put on drafting better safeties to defend all the grahams/gronkowskis/davises and so on.
basically you have to find big and athletic anti-TEs to defend them. corners are too small to tackle them consistently or to defend those basketball-type throws where they shield the defender away with their bodies. furthermore, those TEs will easily be able to block them in run situations. LBs are too big and cannot stay with them in terms of quickness.
the solution has to be better safeties. on a lot of teams, safeties are the worst athletes and they got killed this season.
Kinda off topic, but does anyone else hate the touch down celebrations? I think its much classier when they just get excited, and dont do some dance/spike/other idiotic thing.
hernandez is below average at every position he lines up at.
he is too small for a tight end(easy cover for a db, cant block at all), and too slow for a reciever(easy cover). the scheme makes him good.
Gronk on the otherhand, presents a multitude of problems. but again, the ravens have the two best ballhawking defensive players possibly ever in Ray Ray and Mr Reed.
everyone forgets just how terrible the Pats defense is...
